Re: USB soundcards that work in PD?
I bet you will be disappointed by the latency you will get with USB and non-accelerated processing. Definitely not for live performance.

Re: using an electret mic
I'm not even talking about an official codec. PCM interface is not even defined in bcm2708 platform in the official Linux kernel. I've helped several users to get I2S working using an experimental kernel (just check who's been recently responding to questions and requests for help in that forum topi...

Re: using an electret mic
Yes, but is seems quite unknown that the revision 2 boards (A&B) have a new GPIO header P5 that contains an official sound interface, (I2S). I don't think it can be called official until it is supported by the official kernel. It is not. Furthermore, there is no device tree implementation so an...

Re: using an electret mic
I soldered an opamp-based preamp for an electret mic, an ADC chip and fit it all in RPi case.
Still, I suggest just plugging an old USB webcam and record voice straight away

Re: Flash Drive as RAM
The difference between 8MP and 41MP on the same physical size of sensor is 33MP of noise  Many browsers now start to load much more rubish than they most probably will present on screen. Just to claim that they are the fastest browsers. Some might agree that is an optimisation of user experienc...

Enjoy! You will get udp packets disappearing or delayed along the way from time to time. Thus the glitches. Actually I am still eager to know what is the ratio of dropped packets in this setup.

is it worse than on laptop? is Pi connected by cable or Wifi? what is the bitrate and what audio/video streams are transmitted? what is cpu load? how much memory is given to GPU? how large is buffer on vlc? how long is ping from one Pi to another?

Re: halt renders PNY SD card non-bootable
I use these PNY cards on two RPi systems running Raspbian and ArchLinux. Only one problem was experienced when some network settings disappeared but I attribute that to power interruption. I don't overclock as that is the shortest path to class 10 SD card corruption

Re: Stream IPTV from one RPi to another RPi
@vadim Thanks for your reply. I dont have enough knowledge to answer any of your questions. I dont even know where to set the size of the packages to start with. Nor how to use HW acceleration. In vlc on your laptop in Media Information / Statistics you can see how many frames/audio buffers were dr...

Re: Stream IPTV from one RPi to another RPi
You really have to use HW acceleration.
Out of curiosity, how many packets get lost in transborder streaming and what size of packets is default in vlc?

Re: Wolfson Pi Audio Card
The more the merrier. As we start to see more commercial standardised products then producers and users will (hopefully) invest more in development of (more or less) universal drivers that would be included in the standard RPi kernel. Without it we have problems I outlined in https://github.com/koal...

Try to find and watch Terra Mater series Bionic Revolution for inspiration. They discussed several devices for blind people and even enabled a blind man to ride a bike in a wood.

This behaviour will be observed even without shorting if empty capacitors (or physical elements forming a large enough capacitor) are present without current limiting resistors.

My bad, shouldn't have mixed apples with raspberries  Now Apple is used in arguments against what I say about RasPi and RasPi is used as argument against what I've never said about Apple... The future of RasPi and its strategy should be discussed in a separate thread and Apple, its products and...

Re: I2S: Anyone got it running? (answer is yes!)
@bezel Contact Francesco, the author of the drivers you're using. There is no config switching in the drivers so the user is supposed to know how everything should be connected (and that is not documented either). He should be able to advise how to connect configuration pins and supply master clock ...

Re: I2S: Anyone got it running? (answer is yes!)
left justified mode doesn't change what i2s driver does, i told you so. it's still to be rewritten but so far there was not much demand for alternative formats. i wonder how you set integer variable to 32.5 :) change the code where it sets half frame from 20 to 32 because at that point driver thinks...
