Yay! Will test it this weekend.

Why 4 bytes and not SNDRV_PCM_FMTBIT_S24_3LE?

Re: Baby monitor with sound, video and more

I made a wrong assumption that you use RasPi camera when recommending HLS solution. I am 99% sure that the cam you use produces jpg frames that are further streamed by mjpg_streamer using input_uvc.so driver. (BTW, it was the first proof of concept for the camera I made). There is no image manipulat...

your camera most probably already does jpg compression. what do you need GPU for then?

Re: Baby monitor with sound, video and more

I will direct you to Andy Armstrong's github page with examples and sources. https://github.com/AndyA/psips This works 100%. Video encoding is done in GPU by raspivid. ffmpeg has it's own implementation of HLS, however it is tailored for video-on-demand. I did some modifications to hlsenc.c and that...

It's LTS and the current version of the official kernel.

P.S. Apologies for hijacking the thread 8-)

Re: I2S: Anyone got it running? (answer is yes!)

Oh, you know me :) I want to set it in the machine driver ;) because some codecs support packed mode, some don't... 64, probably, is more universal. With the current (yet unpublished) version of my driver you CAN set it via the machine driver. Although, I would like to know the appropriate value fo...

Re: using an electret mic

The thing that is really funny about this is the existence of a downstream kernel........ Florian, true, but I take it as a given. So I hope the driver (after some improvements we have discussed earlier) will become a part of RPi kernel v.3.10. together with drivers for several available developmen...

Re: I2S: Anyone got it running? (answer is yes!)

If I understand correctly that would require disabling frame-packed mode in I2S mode and doing some bit shifting in PCM module. And deleting that not universal attempt to force integer clock divisor with wrong frame length. ;)

I am so eager to see Wolfson Pi's driver :D

Hmmm... There's about 17 elements in this setup that can go wrong making it all not working when the aim is as simple as applying voltage to the gate opening mechanism (whatever it is).

Re: Minimizing latency with streaming encoded h264?

I definitely wouldn't worry about encoding latency. It is really negligible. There are other potential obstacles. First, buffering on the receiving end and some packets taking a detour. If you don't buffer the quality might suffer. Second, timing of frame presentation. The stream will lack informati...
