Re: Surveillance camera based on BuildRoot and Motion

-> when login is incorrect, a json file is dowloaded (on iphone with chrome, or PC with IE) -> don't have this problem with chrome on PC May it be that those browsers (on those platforms) don't know about json and treat it like a file to be downloaded? Re: Surveillance camera based on BuildRoot and Motion

I admit this is a bit confusing :) The first and the second are the exact same file. The first one is kept for the sake of compatibility with older versions of motionPie that were available only for the old Raspberry PI, and whose update mechanism would look for a file with that name (i.e. without -...

- Motion Detection if off -> i still get email alerts sometimes (still images is off too). It happened to me as well, right after boot, if it sensed some motion. I think it cannot disable motion detection fast enough at startup. - i cannot run a command to remote raspberry pi using ssh pi@192.168.1...

Re: Surveillance camera based on BuildRoot and Motion

Approximately how many images do you have? Working with many pictures over a samba share can often prove to be very slow. If you don't think you have a considerable number of pictures, then I'd like to see your motioneye.log file after such an error. I'm now getting the error "unable to load image l...

Re: Surveillance camera based on BuildRoot and Motion

Hi,

The stable 20150215 version is out.

On a side note, at the suggestion of one of the motionPie users I have created a facebook page for the project. I guess it could be an easier way to bring users together and to share their problems and success stories.

Re: Surveillance camera based on BuildRoot and Motion

Oups, that might be the cause indeed. I will reduce the default overclock to 800 to prevent this kind of issues. Thanks for reporting it. I've had this runing rock solid on a model B for a while, but just tried it on a model A+ and it seems to crash after a minute . I see some other comments above w...

I have released 20150214 which is a testing release that brings support for Raspberry PI 2. Please test it and let me know of any issues you may encounter, so I can make a final stable release soon.

Re: Surveillance camera based on BuildRoot and Motion

Yeap, there might be some memory issues with A+ models (and 256 MB models, in general). I'm not sure what to do about it. Probably reducing the GPU memory will solve the issue but will probably generate problems with the CSI camera. I'm thinking of making this GPU mem setting configurable and leave ...

Re: Surveillance camera based on BuildRoot and Motion

Hi, To disable SSH password authentication, add "PasswordAuthentication no" to /etc/sshd_config. Leave EnableRootLogin enabled, as root is the only user you can login with :) To restart sshd you should probably do something like /etc/init.d/S50sshd restart, but don't do it over SSH - I think it will...

Re: Surveillance camera based on BuildRoot and Motion

Hello there, I just wanted to let you know that motionPie has made its first steps towards a board-agnostic video surveillance distro. Thanks to a very kind user who donated a BananaPI and an Odroid C1, I have been able to port motionPie to BananaPI (and soon to Odroid C1). Owners of a Banana PI boa...

Re: Surveillance camera based on BuildRoot and Motion

Yes, there will be a motionPie version for the PI2 as soon as I get my hands on such a PI2 device. No. Given the hardware changes 'under the bonnet; I'd have been surprised if it worked with no changes. Are you working / do you plan to work on a version that will work on the Pi2? Thanks for a great ...

Re: Surveillance camera based on BuildRoot and Motion

I don't know how to implement support for that RTC. Any help would be appreciated. Support for wifi AP mode is impossible with most of the adapters so the answer here is no. Been using MotionPie for months now and its rock solid!! I have a need to have a remote (hopefully battery/solar powered) came...

Re: Surveillance camera based on BuildRoot and Motion

Reduce the resolution. These are the limitations of motion on a Raspberry PI. Hi all, thanks for the great work Cris. I was trying motionPie/Eye out after having spent some time working with Raspimjpeg and while the interface and some features of motion really attract me the videos are really laggy/...

Re: Surveillance camera based on BuildRoot and Motion

motionPie includes all camera drivers that are available with Raspbian (in theory). Check to see if your camera works with Raspbian and if it does, come back with the output of the command "lsmod" to help me identify the driver and include it in the next motionPie version. Hi ccrisian I recently bou...

Re: Surveillance camera based on BuildRoot and Motion

Yes, that's what I thought. I own a few of these PI Noir cameras and they are sensible to IR light indeed. But without a proper source of IR light I don't see how one would make them "see" at night. Moreover, I found no online reference regarding anything like "night setting" or "night mode" for thi...

Re: Surveillance camera based on BuildRoot and Motion

How would you activate this "night setting" on a regular Raspbian installation? The the NoIR camera (no IR filter) when you set it to night mode, and use an IR light you can see through the darkness. Its very cool and well for security perfect. The Motionpie software is the best however I cannot fin...

Re: Surveillance camera based on BuildRoot and Motion

I'm not sure what you mean by "IR" functionality. If there are special commands to be sent to the camera device then there is no support in motionPie for what you need (and it won't be any time soon). I should add that I meant I cannot get the night IR functionality to work....as a camera its fine.....

Re: Surveillance camera based on BuildRoot and Motion

You can choose "Network Share" as storage device, in the settings of your camera. Then just fill in the rest of the details and it should work. Re: Surveillance camera based on BuildRoot and Motion

Indeed, there's no password protection for the mjpg streaming and there's no easy way to implement it. Also, don't open that stream directly with Chrome; it behaves oddly - the page looks like it's loading while there's no image shown. Hi there! Hi CCrisan! motionPie is not a general-purpose linux distro. You cannot install anything into it. Hi great image and works seamlessly. Re: Surveillance camera based on BuildRoot and Motion

No, there's no support for uvcdynctrl. It could be added to the image but I'm not sure how one would make use of it. Using Microsoft Lifecam HD-6000 works well, except that the autofocus is occasionally annoying and triggers motion capture. I was wondering if it's possible to disable the autofocus. ...

Re: Surveillance camera based on BuildRoot and Motion

Unfortunately not. Most of the custom settings are lost upon update. It's not the way it is supposed to be and I'm going to fix it soon. Hi ccrisan Is the port setting preserved in motioneye/settings.py ? It seem to override back to port 80 default last time I updated via browser. Thanks again Boothy
