Re: Auto-update from 20150102

Yes, the big 7.8 GB is the one you need to backup. The rest are read-only and are completely rewritten upon update. For reference, here is a small article on the partition layout. The .thumb files should normally also get deleted with recent versions. Nope, there's no easy way to update in your case...

Re: Auto-update from 20150102

Nope, there's no easy way to update in your case. You'll need to manually backup your data partition and restore it after you install the latest version from scratch. You have indeed an older version. Try updating normally and see if it works. You might need to update twice to get to 20150331. I did...

Re: Surveillance camera based on BuildRoot and Motion

IP cameras don't have a resolution setting and they have never had one. Boothy i'm using version MP20150317 and I can see resolution settings for my USB cameras there. Perhaps you could just downgrade to check if your cameras are able to have different resolutions first on a known version Thanks I d...

Re: Surveillance camera based on BuildRoot and Motion

There's a known issue when using multiple cameras. The problem is that the OS detects the cameras in a non-deterministic order (or so it seems) and therefore the /dev/video0, for example, does not always represent the same camera. The configured resolution is very likely to not match the supported r...

Do you use multiple cameras on the same machine? Did you change the camera without removing and adding it manually back again?

There has been no change regarding the resolution settings. You should find it under the Video Device section, in the settings menu, when you have the Show Advanced Settings option enabled. Re: Surveillance camera based on BuildRoot and Motion

Lately I've been working on a small project called streamEye that will hopefully make it easier to create a custom MJPEG streamer over HTTP. While streamEye is not tied in any way to Raspberry PI, combining it with another script called raspimjpeg.py will help you turn your Raspberry PI (with a CSI ...

Re: Surveillance camera based on BuildRoot and Motion

It's definitely the sort of requests made to exploit security holes in various web apps and frameworks. My advice is to either block access from outside or change the UI port 80 to something else. Also some iptables firewall rules can be employed to drop (instead of rejecting) unwanted connections. ...

Redownload it and extract it manually, preserving your old settings.py file. You don't need git here. Can you connect a monitor and see what it has to say when it comes to bringing up wlan0 and assigning it an IP address? The TTL (serial) tty is not supposed to show a login prompt (anymore). Re: Framerate - maximum number of pictures

If by "framerate" you refer to the number of pictures saved on your card, you will definitely not get more than 1 picture per second (due to the default naming convention and of course due to performance limitations). The framerate in the web UI however should be a lot better (5-10 fps with resoluti...

Re: Surveillance camera based on BuildRoot and Motion

It sounds like some hardware failure. Check your network, power supply and sdcard. Inserting the SD card into a Linux machine and taking a look over the log files may get you an idea of what's actually happening. Having real problems now - it keeps hanging when trying to access the pictures, and the...

You're free to experiment with it - just grab 20150228 and, under Expert Settings, change the motion binary to /usr/bin/motion-mmal. thank you so much ! is motio...

Re: Surveillance camera based on BuildRoot and Motion

Hello, I have been working on a new motionPie version that incorporates many features related to system settings and board-specific tweaks. The idea was to replace the writeimage.sh script (which is not accessible to everyone) with an in-program list of "expert" settings that will allow users to toy...
