Authentication error?

HI all, am following the guide here: http://elinux.org/RPi_Beginners On debian squeeze distro latest, added a user name and then root password, verified it. Then typed SU and it asked for the password so typed the same one that I typed in for the user name. Got authentication failure. Any suggestion...

Re: Red LED on Faint Green LED

Araldite!!!

Not on a new board!
It should not produce a dry joint after a few insertion operations.

If someone adds Araldite to a new board they will totally void the warranty.
Do NOT do this.

Re: Fails to enumerate any USB keyboard

Given that you say it fails to power the KB lights, I suspect that your using a KB that has too high a power requirement for the USB ports.

http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... =24&t=5830 will explain.

Which PSU to get?

Are there any low cost but good quality UCB PSU's available that anyone can link to?

Ones that have been tested and known to be good?

Cheer.

Something other than a white background would be good - my eyes can't take the harshness.

When you have searched - a back to the forum link?

When the forum moves over to phpbb, you do realise that it will be powered by a Pi don't you?

MC, what is it that you actually want to control with this?

What responses do you expect from sensors etc?

Me too but it appears the OP wants a simple purchasable solution, for home automation some inputs would also be useful.

<t>While the velleman kits are good they are not doing what the OP asked for, to be able to control relays.<br/> <br/> So a relay board at £10 and a fivers worth of interfacing to it is IMO a far better hobbyists solution. Hence me saying "and interfacing to that"

IMO it would be far cheaper to do that and use another board than spending $91+ on it.

Now that the model B schematic has been released, I am pretty sure that it was drawn in CADSTAR format.

Are there any schematics of interface boards available on the net?

Re: Would the PI be able to control something like this? (USB Relay board)

Youd be better off getting something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/8-Ch.....4601afdd9c and interfacing to that out of the GPIO.

It would be far cheaper.

Re: Raspy Juice Expansion Board:

Had someone thought of compliance when they were developing the pi and had it tested before it was decided to release so many then there would not be this hiccup.

Looking at the above pic, it looks ready and if it is manufactured for sale it also needs compliance testing.
