[Guide] Making a PS3 controller work correctly over USB

Google PS3 Controller linux guides and you are flooded with guides that are for bluetooth. But what if you just want to use your PS3 controller via a usb cable? Sure it works out of the box but it does not work right. Mapping control's for your emulators/games is a nightmare. The accelometer/(sixaxi...

Both Retropie and UltraSlim have update script's in place to snag the latest from git.

Re: [11/05/13] UltraSlim - Retro Gaming + Q3A + Desktop + XB

Currently emulationstation stays running in the background. But IMO, it does not effect performance in xbmc. Video's play fine, and have no problems moving between menu's, etc.. But if you wanted to change this, it would be easy enough to edit the xbmc script that is started from emulationstation. 1...

Does setting a a higher memory split allow for 1080p? I know xbmc requires atleast 128MB split.

First do this to setup your auto login.
http://elinux.org/RPi_Debian_Auto_Login

Then edit .bashrc. Just add your command to the bottom. It will be run after login.

Code: Select all

nano ~/.bashrc

Yes, just hit F4 to close emulationstation, will put you at the terminal. Or you can open up a terminal in LXDE. Once you have downloaded pi store, and and downloaded your app's, just manually add them to ~/.emulationstation/es_systems.cfg.

Here is a copy of the runcommand.sh (from RetroPie I believe?). What is runcommand.sh? It set's your resolution to VGA before launching the game for better performance/compatibility. If this is something you want to to/try/test etc.. then do the following. Create ~/.emulationstation/runcommand.sh na...

Re: WIP: Playable Nintendo 64 Emulator Available

If you don't have rom's in the directory you specified in es_systems.cfg, then emulationstation will not show that emu. So if your path was "PATH=/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/n64" then throw some rom's in there, with extension ".n64 .z64 .N64 .Z64".

Re: UltimateSlim - Gaming + Desktop + XBMC

Just have mame/atari-2600 cores left to compile, and then I will give a CD rom a whirl. Edit: Yes, I see the slowdown but I do know why. Disable rewind in retroarch settings, and the fps goes up to around 45-47fps for me (Mortal Kombat). I did notice showing FPS some how effects the fps :/.Please re...

Yes, I renamed it for my own purposes. I am at the moment though, manually compiling all the cores I use (I used Vanfanel's guide for a faster retroarch), so maybe that will help with speed? Here soon, I can give you a zip with the cores I compiled, to see if that makes any difference? picodrive is ...

Yes, it works fine from emulationstation. But I just left that part of the config alone and stuck with the command I used above. Try this, it should work. Re: Mupen64Plus - N64 Emulator for the Pi

Anyone had any luck mapping a exit/quit button? I tried editing the section below with no success. I use /dev/input/j0 and button 16 is the home button on my ps3 controller. So far I have been exiting with the keyboard via ctrl+c. /home/pi/.config/mupen64plus/mupen64plus.cfg [CoreEvents] # Joystick ...

Re: [ALL IN ONE] Ultimate Raspbian - XBMC, Gaming, Desktop

I believe not. You would want to exit XBMC anyway (not leave it running in the background), as those emulator's need all the resources they can get. You ofcourse, can exit XBMC and start emulationstation from the terminal.

Re: [ALL IN ONE] Ultimate Raspbian - XBMC, Gaming, Desktop

Yes, it is possible but kinda defeat's the purpose of the setup. If you load XBMC first, emulationstation will not be loaded. When you exit XBMC, you would be at the terminal. First you need to disable emulationstation loading on boot. You can do this in the Retropie script. sudo /home/pi/RetroPie-S...

Maybe I did not type the command right above, but the program/emu does execute, it just gives a bunch of errors about not finding lib's, etc.. Can some test this for me? Worked on 2 of my SD cards, but my brother could not get it to boot. I need to know if it was a error on his part or my image. Thanks. He says he just got a blackscreen after splash. Usually after splash, you should only see black screen 10-15 seconds. VERSION 2.1 http://w...

[ALL IN ONE] Ultimate Raspbian - XBMC, Gaming, Desktop

A while back I read about a image called Ultimate Raspbian. It included Raspbian, RetroPie, XBMC, etc... But a release never surfaced. But I loved the idea of it. So I set out to build it myself with some more stuff thrown in. http://s16.postimg.org/b148xjglh/splashscreen.jpg Minimal LXDE install XB...
