Re: Does Pi3 can do security system

Two cameras, two Pi's and ethernet cable. Easier to do, even Zero's, A's can do it, B+ no problem. Go to camera forum for at least 3 options of software. People have done cameras on hdmi cables but 10M cable probably costs the same as another Pi. Only the Compute modules can do two cameras. Pi3's ha...

billw,

Just had idea, fourth servo for daylight/IR filter.
Already have sunrise/sunset so can add tiny servo filter wheel.
Hmm, if don't need tilt, pan and zoom, one servo output should work?
Latching rotary solenoid?
Modify servo to only two positions?

Are you using the current version? Do you have archiving turned off? jbeale. I am now, was a version behind. Have not even looked at archiving yet. Still trying to juggle seven cameras manually, two backup drives nearly filled. Need some time to make a network drive, plus sort out the 8Mp and telep...

Hmm hard for human eye to see 940nm.
Use a mobile phone camera to see if the LEDs are on, whitish/purple glow?.
Useful for TV remote testing too.

To go back and looks at videos from 4 days ago I have to sort a folder with 17,000+ images and that's just for one camera. Just opening the folder is slow, should probably turn the vec...

Need to watch those SD cards, caused me heaps of problems too. Had to go out and buy some new 16GB ones, lucky there was a half price sale. The new Jessie and Jessie Lite is not very tolerant of old cards. The new piCore is out so I'm about to start trying to port to that OS. Does not have nginx, so...

Thanks guys, I did not know Adafruit was selling a Zero/cable/camera package. If I did not already have a bunch of cameras that would be my preferred package. Apart from 6 or 10 packs :D But now out of stock :( Wonder if they will have a Noir option? Have not got 8Mp Noir's yet. Yep handling charges...

Re: IR LED Array for NoIR Camera

Yep series voltage depends on the LED. Need to read the specs of the leds you use. If you want to power them from the Pi 5 volts you need to know the exact voltage. This can vary depending on the power supply, 5.0, 5.1, 5.2V, long power cable 4.8, 4.7, 4.9V? You could allow for this by using only th...

Some people just attract static. That said, I have mistreated lots of my Pi cameras, everyone is still working. Re: Simultaneous PWM pigpio

For your application, a 2 wheeled robot, even the same PWM will not drive it straight. Cheap DC gearmotors are not the same, wheel friction is not the same, gearboxes are not the same. I have seen mechanical clutches used for straight line drive. Going to need course correction anyway. For Drones, u...

For Noir, night vision/security, a monochrome large pixel camera 1-3Mp would probably be better, but is there a mono CSI chip?

I use both Motionpie/MotioneyeOS and Pikrellcam

They need light for image motion detection.
For night time PIR plus floodlight or IR illumination.
Even old B's work.

Yep, stay away from mains unless you are trained.
In the meantime, Pololu, Sparkfun, Adafruit, Robotshop, Robotbits, Robotgear etc
And the usual suspects Element14, RS.

CSI - MiPi is standard, it is just high speed LVDS. It is why you can have 1- 2m cables, Adafruit sell them. Camera sensor I2C commands are the tricky bits. I did find this, tells you what register values to set. https://android.googlesource.com/kernel/bcm/+/android-bcm-tetra-3.10-lollipop-wear-rele...

I use i2c sensors, multiple addresses so you can have a string of them.
TMP112, TMP175 - 0.0625C resolution.
TMP112 can be calibrated for even more accuracy.

No straight answer.
Are you making robots, garage door openers, magnetic rail guns?
DC or AC, what voltage/current?

Plenty of info out there, just no solution that will do everything.
Be specific in your question.

You can do lots with just transistor driven relays.
ULN2004 and seven relays?
