Re: Would this screen work with Raspberry Pi Zero W

Thanks notro
For the tinydrm link, not that it make sense to me yet :oops:
My apps are baremetal, sort of. I want to get the TFTs running in Ultibo.

Probably should get it going in Linux first, Raspbian then piCore.
Then Laz/FPC, then Ultibo?

Re: Why yours and not mine

I don't think I have ever paid for an OS on Pi's, you must have more money than me :shock: Windows - Win32Diskmanager, [Mod edit] Etcher Linux - [MOD EDIT] unzip and dd, or Etcher I am on my 4th or 5th USB SD card reader/writer, those little connectors wear out. Some USB cables have also bit the dus...

Does it work with a Zero W?
And why can't I get PiDrives in OZ :(

So not just a Raspbian problem?
Who wants to tell Linus?

Might have to bring forwards my plan to do a baremetal interface to the Eyecam :(

I am not really interested in video and youtubes, but a few recent things have changed my mind. Been setting up an AR Sandbox, Web page has videos for how to do the calibration. I read the Readme it says go see video xxx. :lol: As the effects of mum's aluminum saucepan cooking are starting to set in...

Interesting, on Mint with kernel 4.4.0 Audacity I could get the 4 channels from the eyecam. Upgraded to latest 4.10.13 kernel, Audacity knows there is an eyecam but no I get audio. Most of my Pi's run 4.9.+ unplug, replugging and dmesg gives this [[ 30.237649] usbcore: registered new interface drive...

Re: Commercial Use of the Pi

Any company is going to try and reduce its costs. Moving to the Zero reduces costs Duh! It is not just companies, Universities too, budgets get tight, research money is scarce. With a $3 sensor, a Pi and 3D printer, analytical equipment can be made for a fraction of what it used to cost. Teaching g...

Ultimately, this type of device, with the obvious chip upgrades, represents an important concept in harmonizing the very large bioanalytical/diagnostics instrument market. I hear you, I'm working on one instrument now, prototype hat is Zero sized. Designed over a year ago :o Software takes ages :( ...

The 2.2" has the same resolution 320x240, was thinking it may make a light smaller head set. It's also a bit cheaper. eBay clones are around too. Flir would be nice too or even the Panasonic 8x8. Turn them into insulation heat leakage googles? Had an idea for Pi's in those 1/16 RC tanks. Zero W woul...

And just as an FYI, we currently make multiple tens of thousands of ZeroW per month IIRC. It's really not as if we are slacking in that respect. So it's not just lo510k hogging them then :o be relatively stable and predictable for a couple years and available in reasonable volumes I regard the ARMv...

Re: solar powered pi

I can only seem to get about 7 hours max operating time. Real world result, 7 hours is really good for a 2W panel. That is in fact better than I would expect. You can use the existing setup by duty cycling the power. Turning it on for 1 minute every 5 minutes would be a start. Add this part https:/...

even when using a 32bit OS, it's still faster at the same clock speed than the A7.
And it will go even faster and use less power with an Aarch64 64bit OS, one day :lol:

Conspiracy theorists don't understand leadtimes ;) Just say "We are making them as fast as possible but someone keeps buying them all up" I'm looking at you lo510k, 99 other people missed out because you're hogging 100 ;) Er, high demands means longer leadtimes. With just the wifi chip leadtime at 1...

I believe Joans' pigpio stuff uses a daemon. http://abyz.co.uk/rpi/pigpio/ This just happens in background so you don't have to worry about the PWM bit. You can also use the GPIOZERO Python wrapper. https://gpiozero.readthedocs.io/en/stable/api_output.html#motor Ultrasonic input? https://gpiozero.re...

Re: Raspi pi cam vlc streaming

This should end up in the config.txt
gpu_mem=128
start_x=1
Usually just works for me in Raspbian
In piCore I have to add extra step.

This goes in bootstart
chmod 777 /dev/vchiq

Re: Using threads in C for reducing picamera dropped frames

I have similar issues even in Pascal on baremetal, writing the files to sdcard can cause issues. So I write to a memory stream and then when finished write the stream to card. This works for me now because it's not big files. Doing images, I might try multicore instead of multitasking. I have a susp...

Pi's are used in commercial products. Just don't expect an answer to which ones for various reasons, some of which have been spoken about before on here. They are made in the Millions and individually tested. I and others have found them very reliable and well made. Apart from Zero's, suppliers keep...

It is true for PiZero, but not sure about PiZeroW. W is more useful and with more margin, hope it sticks around for some time. Indications already RPF are making more of them a week than normal Zero.
