Re: OpenELEC Testbuilds

Hi, Another short update (r11315): SD card performance (Transcend 8GB Class 10) is better than in previous builds (I've been following the SD card thread - very interesting!). Testing with "hdparm -tT /dev/mmcblk0" (non-destructive so safe for anyone else to try!) results in the following: Before (...

Re: HDMI-VGA Adapter with chip GBP 12, free shipping

@thesynapseuk: To clarify the recent replies which may appear contradictory :) If you are accessing the SD card from Linux (ie. on the Pi itself), the config.txt file will be in the /boot directory, but if you are accessing the same SD card on a Windows PC the config.txt file will be in the "top lev...

Where exactly should I put the config.txt file? At the moment it's sitting on the root/top level directory and just contains the text that some of you quote above (haven't tested the last few entries yet - busy this week!).

Is that the right way to do it?
Yes.

Except I'm not using NFS, but SMB, and anyway, I'm not using pathsubstitution to change the Thumbnails directory anymore I'm no longer substituting the path either - the Thumbnails directory is now local on the SD card, but I have ".tbn" files alongside each movie on my NAS, and these are being pic...

Re: OpenELEC meets Raspberry Pi - part 1 (XBMC)

LOL, I just double-checked and found that sometimes they do. The incidence is much lower though; haven't found them doing that except for the big 'wallpaper' style backgrounds for TV shows. EDIT: or not, just found it scrambled on a tv thumbnail. grr. will try to be more thorough and less hairtrigg...

I got 3 partitions 1. fat 2. ext4 3. ntfs Of course, the upload with samba works to fill the ntfs partition, but I would also like to fill the SD card simple by using a Windows PC with a cardreader (it's fas...

check http://sparky0815.de new images available (build r11290) :ugeek: It would be great if you could provide a single zip archive of the 5 files from the FAT partition - it would be way less than 100MB. Re-imaging each time is so destructive (you lose all your settings, databases, thumbnails etc.)...

Hmm... a couple of reboots (of the Pi) later and now scanning again (IMDB) and there are no apparent NFS problems so far (touch wood). why not unpack the build you found at http://sources.openelec.tv/tmp/image/openelec-rpi/ and copy the content of the target/ folder to the "Update" samba share like http://wiki.openelec.tv/index.php?title=Updating_OpenELEC#Manually_Updating_OpenELEC ? the bootloader files you find in the 3rdparty/b...

Re: OpenELEC Testbuilds

I didn't do steps 3-4 before rebooting, would this make much of a difference if I have added the exact same details to rc.conf in /etc ? "sync" just flushes any buffered file updates to the underlying storage, and I also just like to remount the root filesystem as read-only before rebooting in case...

In most case you only need to update kernel.img and SYSTEM, though occasionally the firmware files are also updated. For anyone producing and distributing new builds, wou...

Possibly, although I'd expect to see more corrupt network data issues if that were the case, yet I have managed to watch a considerable amount of video (iPlayer, 720/1080p Blu-Ray rips etc.) without any issues I would attribute to data corruption, plus also scanning about 400+ movies at least 3 time...

I get this also, but am putting up with it as I consider it a minor issue... I'd say it leads to more serious problems, missing images, then eventual crashes when quickly moving through thumbnails. I think the GPU is being used to hardware accelerate jpg display, and glitches here are leading to th...
