Re: ext3/4 and SD-card wear leveling

fstrim is working here, and always has been since I added fsrim to a daily cron in December 2012. Admittedly, I don't actually know if it's doing anything... it says it is, so I kinda believed it! :) [email protected] ~ $ uname -a Linux raspberrypi 3.6.11+ #528 PREEMPT Tue Aug 20 00:25:53 BST 2013 armv...

Yes, it's absolutely possible.

Have you read this tutorial? It should help fill in some of the blanks.

Re: Raspbian: omxplayer now has x11 dependency?

If you add the line as suggest it will NOT consider X as a dependency, because it is only recommended. Thats why I wrote that that line is pretty much essential. Otherwise, by default, the X libs would be listed as dependencies. Ah sorry, I _totally_ missed the end of rpdom's post mentioning the fi...

Re: Raspbian: omxplayer now has x11 dependency?

If you try [email protected]:~$ apt-get -s install omxplayer (no sudo needed for this command) It will do a dummy run of installing omxplayer and tell you what software it needs to install that won't be for some reason. You may then try the same command for each of the packages that can't be installed...

Re: Raspbian: omxplayer now has x11 dependency?

Thanks for all the replies. That line is pretty much essential it seems. But as I suspected omxplayer seems to be build correctly for the case that X is not installed. What would be the reason for omxplayer being held back, as it is in my case. According to apt-cache showpkg (see first post), is the...

Raspbian: omxplayer now has x11 dependency?

I'm running an up to date Raspbian with x11 removed, but recently I haven't been able to update omxplayer as it now has dependencies on x11. This means omxplayer is held back whenever I apt-get update. Is this x11 dependency correct, why should omxplayer suddenly have a dependency on x11? Or has it ...

Me? Stock Raspbian (2012-10-28-wheezy-raspbian) subsequently updated with apt-get (last update late last week).

fstrim has always been working for me with this card and Raspbian, since late December 2012 when I added it to cron.

Re: ext3/4 and SD-card wear leveling

On a different point, if run fstrim immediately again on the beaglebone it says it trims the exact same number of bytes. I wonder if the card actually erases these each time since having that on a cron job could be bad. It's the number of potentially discardable bytes, and different filesystems han...

LOVE the case... I have an idea for a "power"/"reset" switch. Use a micro reed switch.. then the magnet would be like a "key". Place the "key" to the plastic case and when close enough... kills power till it's removed! :) Looking forward to this case... Thinking of trying Kickstarter? Thanks! -Rob ...

Is port 51413 (or whatever port you configured Transmission to use) open and being forwarded by your router to your Pi? Is "Start when added" checked? Have you looked in transmission.log (or syslog) for anything relevant?

Problem solved (thanks to Killerbee ) - just run: sudo ldconfig and all should be well again (well, it worked for me!)
