Did you run

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade or sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

..to synch the repositories, as an updated Raspbian has been released ?

Have you looked at Tiny Core Linux ?

piCore the base CLI system.

piCore-X is piCore with preinstalled GUI

Ad-hoc is the term used for direct communicating between 2 Pi's without a Router/Access Point, see:

Can you not use xinit to start Enlightenment17 ??
