Re: Minimal distro for headless web server

Thanks folks for the quick replies. I appreciate access to the stripped down packages, but I would prefer instructions on how to remove which items that I deem unneeded rather than a ready made image, based on Raspian please. Have you searched through this forum ? Here is one from 04/09/2013 http:/...

Re: Problems Installing

The download is out of date, there are several posts more recent on this Forum relating to Minimalistic Raspbian Wheezy, like this one posted yesterday http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewt ... 66&t=56283 :o

As they have gone into bed with Google http://newsroom.intel.com/community/intel_newsroom/blog/2011/09/13/intel-and-google-to-optimize-android-platform-for-intel-architecture it is just a way of: a) selling the "new" Atom in quantities to justify expense of trying to compete with ARM b) justifying p...

Re: Minimal distro for headless web server

Just a suggestion, but Arch is a Command Line Distro by default and includes the Networking Support.

Regards minimalizing Raspbian Wheezy, there are several postings on the forum regarding the procedure, and I believe that you may find a ready made IMG :P

Wordpad understands, though, so works ok. I'm told Notepad+ is best.

I prefer to use: sudo shutdown -h now

Re: x86 CPU development boards 86DUINO

The only reason I can see for these boards is for people who "need" to run old MS-DOS software natively rather than in emulation, due to the Windows NT family not allowing direct port access. Though saying that someone will buy one and put XP on it somehow and claim it is fantastic.

Re: KTAM33874/pITX Embedded Board

There are so many people who want many of the features actually on the Pi, so I do not see a distinction The distinction is people. The Pi is meant for people: its a consumer device. The board in the link is not meant for people: its an industrial device. So why do people try to use the Pi as a non...

Seems like everyone wants a slice of the Pi The board is designed with an extended temperature range, seven years of support, and an undisclosed price. This means its meant for the 'big boys' in 'big boy business'; an entirely different market from Pi There are so many people who want many of the f...

AH! you listing OBD was a red-herring, you want to understand - Bluetooth Serial Port Profile (SPP) ???????????? This profile is based on ETSI 07,10 and the RFCOMM protocol. It emulates a serial cable to provide a simple substitute for existing RS-232, including the familiar control signals. It is t...

OK OK OK    SEMANTICS

The Linux OS can be run from USB Flash Drive

Though the SD Card must be used to ""boot"" up the Pi "start.elf, bootcode.bin and loader.bin are the GPU firmware and bootloaders" etcetera
