GPIO Getting Started (LED and Switches)

Hi, I'm just getting started with electronics and interfacing LEDs and Switches through the GPIO. I have been looking at the tutorial below, and am rather confused as to why when the output pin is high the LED is off. I would expect the opposite to be true. Can anyone explain? Thanks https://www.cl....

Re: Problems after updating to Debian Jessie Raspbian

Just to let you know that the packages came down this evening and the issue is resolved for now. Hopefully the project developer will fix this within his package so we have a long term resolution.

Thanks

Hii. That is a most unusual project!

As a starting point you could look at Jasper which is a voice activated project. Please see the link above.

If you are using Raspian the Python is already installed.

Run startxx and you will see shortcuts to the ide on the desktop.

Re: Music

Hi,

A combination of MPD and MPC is good. You can create a playlist and move between tracks. You can also control it from your mobile.

There is a tutorial here:

raspi-config - Expand root partition -

Hello,

I have installed 4 OSs with the Noobs installer on a 16GB SD Card.

When running raspi-config is it safe to run 'Expand root partition to fill SD card'? E.G does this just expand to use unused space or will it remove the other distros (Pidora, Arch and RASPBMC)?

Thanks

Re: Pidora missed opportunity?

Thanks everyone, Sorry about the phrase 'fresh' (very 1980s!) I should have been more specific. I was referring to to the look of the desktop. I have now successfully tried Mate and XFCE on Raspbian both of which have more eye candy. Regarding moving to Jessie, for more updated packages I have found...

Pidora missed opportunity?

Hi, I recently installed Pidora via the Noobs installer. It looks so much fresher than the Raspian image. I believe I read the Pidora was going to be a default image but was not available on time? However where is the documentation. The website links to a wiki which only contains one page so it seem...

Re: Things to do out of the box?

Hi. You just get the board. You can buy starter packs which include SD Card and other bits and bobs. Try Maplin. Also worth buying a book to give you the details before you buy.

Remote access via SSH or VNC

Hi,

I have paid for a fixed IP with my PlusNet broadband here in the UK.

How do I setup my Pi so I can access it away from home?

I have set-up VNC and SSH so I can access it from other home devices OK, but not sure how to progress to the next level.

Thanks

Hi, Thanks for the speedy and clear reply. MPC is just a command line player that works with MPD to play files (I believe) MPDroid is the Android App I was hoping to use. I will try it with just ALSA and let you know how I get on. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.namelessdev.mpdroid...
