Re: Damage to camera module by plugging it in backward?

James, Do you think it is worth a sticky post (FAQ) for this. It would seem that the Sunny connector is often the cause of these problems. Leo Yes, I'm currently updating the documentation to include set up and troubleshooting - hopefully I'll get that posted somewhere, and can link from the camera...

For what it's worth, I have had a similar problem with a new camera. Replaced the ribbon cable - no difference. Unplugged the Sunny connector and reconnected it and every thing works fine.
The connector LOOKED ok, but clearly it was not

On the web site it says"NOTE: The Raspicam module has NOT be funded by the Raspberry Pi Foundation in any way." So I guess he has done this off his own initiative.

Re: Raspistill timelapse. Images get progressively darker

OK, got this working OK now I think. Instead of not connecting the preview port on camera to a preview component, I connect to a null sink component, which simply discards the frames. Camera is happy as its producing frames from which it can determine its exposures, and you lot will be happy as the...

Change of production location means new test procedures etc which takes time to put in place. I think there may also have been supply problems on one of the components

Re: Farnell Still using inadequate packaging

Be careful with that cable, I have one Pi that won't recognize cameras any more (with a good cable) after I used a cable creased like that and the camera became unresponsive. I have no intention of using it! Fortunately, I have a couple of spare cables bought earlier. I'm wondering if many of the r...

Farnell Still using inadequate packaging

Ordered a new camera from Farnell on Friday. It arrived this morning - hooray!
Unfortunately although the packaging now includes two pieces of foam in a cardboard box, the cable was bent over and creased.

I would have thought they should have learnt by now.

As far as I know, no one has ever said the Pi or its Camera board were open hardware. Does anyone know what the curve / characteristic of the IR filter is? if you reference my pleading for a flash sync feature...... Just adding my 2p worth, running time-lapse with -n causes the images to get gradually darker. Without -n it is fine.
I have been able to repeat this consistently.

Re: file size limit on raspivid ?

Wouldn't it be better if the output from -v went to stderr? Leo If you send the output to stdout and redirect that to a file, does that work around the issue? For example, instead of: raspivid -v -t 3600000 -o /media/usbdisk/vid/video.h264 Try this: raspivid -v -t 3600000 -o - > /media/usbdisk/vid/v...

Re: Bad focus on RPi camera Rev 1.3

jamesh and dom have fixed that and many other issues. Use rpi-updare to get new firmware. If you want full-res stills, be aware that the current "full frame" mode is in fact upsampled from 1440x1080 due to a driver bug. That is in process of being fixed, but for now we are limited to working with at...

Re: Horizontal lines with video, not stills

If it is a model B then 850mA is not enough with the Camera. I think the Pi alone draws 700 mA and the camera another 200 mA when taking a picture. It's both out and indoors. I'll try my iPad charger then, it should provide enough power. My current supply is 850mA, so it should be fine, but who knows

Turning off camera LED

Am I right in thinking that since the last firmware update, you can no longer disable the LED by a line in config.txt?

Has the syntax changed or is this facility planed to be reinserted in a future release?

Thanks
