Re: Browser

Re: Turning on MOSFET with GPIO crashes Pi B+

Do mind that for loading a capacitor of that size, you'd really need a resistor in series, a 10 Ohm/5 Watt one will do nicely. And you need a powerful diode to prevent current flowing back to the WiMAX router, effectively reserving the energy in the capacitor for the RPi. The 1N5400 series can handl...

Re: Turning on MOSFET with GPIO crashes Pi B+

Well, the fault search has to start somewhere: separate the power supplies from both and see if the B+ still crashes. If you don't have a separate power supply for the RPi, try a "super cap", a 1Farad capacitor, to power the B+ while the WiMAX switches on. The 5V versions are relatively cheap and sm...

No PoPoP chips exists. Yet! :P One could imagine a more advanced bus structure connecting processor and RAM chips, literally stacking RAM pages on top of the other ;) Don't dismiss it, 25-odd years ago they said the GHz barrier was too much, when highly advanced micro controllers ran at a...

Re: Interfacing hardware

The LS series has a fan-in of 1 (=20uA) and fanout of 20 (= -/_ 400uA) According to the Elector datasheet book (2nd edition, 8th print, 1990) the LS13, LS132 and LS14 have a positive flank trigger of 1.6V and the negative flank trigger at 0.8V, so you should be OK. Testing shouldn't be too difficult...

Interfacing hardware

Apols if this is already mentioned. If so, it didn't show up in the search. I've found that a CMOS 4093 IC can be used to interface between a 3V3 and 5V circuit. The 4093 is a quad 2-input NAND Schmitt-trigger IC. This means that the input levels don't need to match the exact specs of the CMOS stand...

There could be a number of issues: 1) ensure the cable is properly inserted and locked in the socket 2) a DNS issue prevents the RPi from connecting: open a terminal then type: sudo ping -c 5 192.168.1.1 The reply you'll get tells you if there's a physical connection to your router (at IP address 19...

Re: HexPi - my Hexapod Pi Robot build

Fixing your servos is quite easy (depending on how easy your access is to the innards ;) ), just a 1N4148 diode and a suitably dimensioned tantalum capacitor to separate power from the variable resistor (plus microcontroller) and the motor. Cost-wise: if you order in bulk from China you could find d...

By design JTAG is a bi-directional bus and as such may/could (at least theoretically) be used to reverse-engineer the source code. I doubt Broadcom will have every CMIO buyer sign an NDA though

Re: When the compute module start selling?

Plus shipping :P So that's at least 160 quid and that's without the CM itself (another 40-ish). British VAT (tax) doesn't apply outside the EU, but that fact in itself implies higher shipping costs. It's still not a lot of money for a (fairly) complete developers kit, so I'd stick to my prediction a...

I disagree with the assertion that not every application will need comms. Most will. You contradict yourself here. As for the primary market of the CM: that's most definitely the industry. For consumers/hobbyist users the Foundation still recommends the Model A and B. Having said that, they've also...

Attention! For the correct operation of the board you need to match a GSM module
