Re: Midi over Wifi - driver?

Thanks. I'll have to take a look at how you did it.The question 'how do I interface (device x) with MIDI?' crops up regularly on the forums, anđ while I feel it should be relatively easy to do, I haven't had much time to look at it myself...

Re: OpenArena - unplayable - slow

OP says that it's running using software rendering on their pi 1 B+. Is there a fix for that?

I assume it was once OK, otherwise it wouldn't be in the store, but a recent firmware change has done something to it....

multiple spi screens on the pi 2?

I've had an idea kicking around in my head about a 'virtual boy' style stereoscopic doodad made using a pi and a couple of small tft screens, but up until now, framerate on those things was (I gather) a bit limited, and trying to drive 2 would have been unsatisfactory, due to the spi bus simply not ...

Re: How would you improve the SuperPiBoy?

I'd find a way to keep the screen the original size, add 2 extra buttons for snes emulation, somehow keep the headphone socket, and have an internal battery+charging circuit. I fully admit that not all of that might be possible at the same time. I definitely wouldn't use a pi 1, but if I did, I'd us...

Soldering irons are super-useful, even cheap ones. definitely don't get a gun-type though - though there's less initial risk of burnt fingers they're too clumsy and cumbersome for stuff like this.

Re: 4 pin RGB LED

most likely it's a plain rgb led. the longest lead is the common. get an aaa or aa battery and a bit of wire; bend the longest led lead so that you can hold it against one end of the battery without the other 3 leads getting in the way. do so. you should also press one end of the wire against the ot...

Re: Pi as a self-contained unit?

also, yes, you can probably use a tablet. Possibly by setting the pi up as an access point, you could connect directly to it and use something like VNC for a remote desktop from the pi to your tablet.

hopefully someone who knows exactly if/how to do it will be along soon...

Re: Raspberry pi & midi ?

there is stuff relating to raspi+midi on the googles, if you search a bit more. I haven't seen anything regarding motion sensing, but I'd put money on it not being *too* hard to interface a gyro/accelerometer module to the pi. IMHO, it's very probably doable, but it would be a good idea to do more r...

Re: Fresnel Lenses

I don't think it really works like that, unfortunately. All real-world designs involve compromises of one sort or another - going with an led and a fresnel is prioritising power-efficiency, cool running, lightweightness, relative cheapness and availability. you could build a more 'perfect' projector...

Re: Fresnel Lenses

the collimator lens doesn't collect/straighten out random rays - rather it straightens out rays radiating out from a *point*. since those high-power leds aren't point light sources, anything you do will be a bit of hope and fudge. best to construct your box 'close enough', and with adjusting screws ...

Re: Fresnel Lenses

The Fresnel lens takes light being shone behind it at various angles and straightens them out so they are parallel to each other and hit the screen at a 90 degree angle to maximize its efficiency. That's fine if you are making a torch. :) You place the light source behind the lens at a distance equ...
