Re: turning Nintendo dsi xl into pi pc

I think you shoulf fix your dsi with a new screen from eBay, then sell it. You can buy cool pi stuff with the money raised. Alternatively, fix it, then keep it. Get a flash card of some sort, and get into gba or ds homebrew. It seems a shame to scrap so much good working tech just for the sake of a ...

Re: RPi + 5v 3w amp

I'm going to risk my stellar reputation and guess that you probably *can* power it from the 5v and gnd pins without anything catching fire or blowing up.

5v 3w is only 600 milliamps...

Re: Raspberry Pi Demo Scene?

I've seen a couple of scene demos done on raspi. One was a port of something originally on another platform, and one was new. Neither were mindblowing, but it was nice to see the raspi represented. search on youtube :)

Maybe you should make one, OP!

Re: HDMI to VGA Adapter Question

There is a risk that using an unpowered converter will draw too much power through one of the diodes near the Pi's HDMI port and destroy it, making your pi's HDMI useless. This has happened to at least one person. Anecdotally, I've been using one similarish to the one you posted with my original mo...

Set up the pi as an unsecured wifi hotspot, with the SSID as whatever (short) message you want.

Also, digital pots can't carry much current. They're probably not suited to dim more than one led, if that. Use pwm and save your digipots for something more fitting...

Re: Can anyone help me with an acceptable relay (HVAC/Chille

PWMing stuff plugged into the mains is not at all the same as dimming an. LED. you should probably use an SSR (and a hefty heatsink) and the pulses should be looooong. 30 seconds at an absolute minimum...

Re: Case for Model B "Rev 1"?

maybe I'm misunderstanding, but I think that unless the case _requires_ using the 'mounting' holes, then it'll work fine with rev.1 and rev.2 equally. pibow should be fine, as should 99% of small plastic cases. definitely double-check you're getting them for the original pi though, and not a + or pi...

Re: Can anyone help me with an acceptable relay (HVAC/Chille

that adafruit thing is apparently a servo/pwm driver. I don't think it's relevant to relays at all.

Relays are easy though. find a 5v relay that fits the bill, an optoisolator, a small transistor and a resstor or two. you can the wire those up to safely trigger the relay from a single gpio+ground.

Re: Detect touch on glass table

I think It's i2c, not spi. If it was me, I'd probably involve a couple of cheap ebay arduino pro micros, or something of that sort. link them together, have 3 modules into each, then have one of them pass all the info to the raspi via UART. others will no doubt have smarter solutions. also, don't fo...

You have frameskip set to 0, and that means when the emulator can't keep up, it gets slower rather than jerkier?

It's Sisyphum that's self-resetting..
