Do you want to completely DIY this ? If you want more ready made solutions, check out the various Bitscope Blades, http://bitscope.com/product/blade/ e.g. the quattro blade: http://my.bitscope.com/store/?p=view&i=item+2 its powering each pi via GPIO header - much neater than lots of micro usb cables...

I guess they chose not to do that originally because they wanted to maintain only single full and lite downloads. Or the original agreement specified it was to be present by default ? Anyway it will remain available, and notice their site has been changed a few days ago specifically to add details ...

Re: Diskless booting Zeroes from Windows

I read somewhere on the forumn that if a bootable SD card is present a Pi will always boot from that in preference to USB, network, etc. booting. Pi generally always tries SD first, but if no bootcode.bin is present, it moves to the next device, full bootflow here: https://www.raspberrypi.org/docum...

Without a pc ?

You can use your phone ( the computer you carry in your pocket!)

Easier for Android users, and many have sd slots built in,
You can also create a new pi SD card with my app (see sig)

Re: Diskless booting Zeroes from Windows

Lack of a free and functional NFS server means that the same technique can't work when the host is Windows 10. There is an old windows NFS server here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/winnfsd/ I have my sd-less pi zero accessing that NFS server on windows, and I can see it requesting files but sta...

Re: Any ideas for Eee PC running Raspberry Pi Desktop?

Yes much of the strength of the pi (IMO) is it's introduction to linux as a viable desktop OS Once you have linux on a laptop etc, you can do alot of linux (pi) things faster and better. So the real question is : why use a pi in preference to a linux laptop ? or for what is the pi more suited than t...

Re: Diskless booting Zeroes from Windows

There are a few different ways of exposing the ethernet gadget to the client OS: RNDIS, CDC ECM or CDC EEM The problem is one of linux / MAC / PC support. RNDIS = Windows only, driver auto loads. CDC ECM = Linux and MAC, but no windows driver (though 3rd party devices seem to use it) CDD EEM = Linux...

Could one boot from a USB stick? I tried putting a bootable USB card with the same bootcode.bin on it, but no joy. USB booting without SD requires the same OTP bit flashed as non SD network booting. Not sure how you're running piserver, but note that piserver won't work from the usb booted live OS
It only works when it's installed to HDD.

OK, documenting steps as I play: 1. Download & install the rpiboot-setup: https://github.com/raspberrypi/usbboot/raw/master/win32/rpiboot_setup.exe This installs: - a USB driver for the Pi - rpiboot.exe - an MSD folder containing boot files bootcode.bin, start.elf 2. You can backup a large 128gb card onto a small 8GB card using the "SD copier" included in raspbian - assuming the card is raspbian based.

Re: will i get wifi collision with 100 RPI in 3 cubic meter?

For 100 clients I'd consider using 2-3 AP's on different channels.

Many cheap router/AP's have trouble with large number if devices connected, but I've always found unifi AP's work well.

Well that's not ASCII ... but I can "see" the letters there in the 3rd field, seem to be

ascii code = 3rd code + 93

[0, 0, 23, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0] => 23 => 23 + 91 => 116 = 't'

Code: Select all

codes = 23,8,22,23
for code in codes:
    print chr(93 + code)
