Re: Call for beta testers: FIQ_FSM USB driver rewrite

Do you think these might indicate a problem? I just got home and my Pi was frozen (no pun intended, network at least since it's headless). Mar 16 19:53:28 raspberrypi kernel: [441694.837978] Transfer to device 5 endpoint 0x5 failed - FIQ reported NYET. Data may have been lost. Mar 16 19:55:29 raspbe...

Re: USB FIQ testing....

Interesting. I have a sound card driver that streams the raw audio over the network and it works (especially over a wired connection :D).

Re: USB FIQ testing....

If I made no mistake, audio playback is impossible when samples are accessed through LAN and *extremely' choppy when playing local files. I've used a Behringer device, which I had a thread about. Doesn't really matter, but wanted to report that. Maybe it makes a difference this device is USB1.1. I'...

Re: USB FIQ testing....

I tried again a few days ago and audio is choppier on the next branch, even without network load.

This might be a regression.

Re: USB FIQ testing....

Right. On the other hand, if USB wasn't needed for network or audio (as the integrated sound card is not great either), I wouldn't be complaining about USB :D.

Re: USB FIQ testing....

I tried this for a few minutes and it seems a bit less choppy than before, but for me fiq_split_enable=0 is still better :).

I hope that the Pi successor will have a built-in network card...

Re: USB FIQ testing....

@gsh

I've seen the commit from July 11, but if i recall correctly the last time it happened to me was on Friday.

Right now I'm using the next branch because it seems to help somewhat with another weird issue I had with ALSA.

Re: USB FIQ testing....

SND_PCM_FORMAT_S16_LE at 44.1 KHz. I described my problem in a post on the previous page; basically I'm getting choppy sound when there's a lot of data coming from the network. fiq_split_enable=0 fixes it.

And I won't even start on SD card corruption issues and network not working sometimes :).

Re: USB FIQ testing....

I only have the DAC and it seems it doesn't have asynchronous endpoints for playback:

Re: USB FIQ testing....

Ok, I think I found a way to reproduce this on #494. On the Raspberry: aplay -f cd ss.raw nc -kl 0.0.0.0 7777 > /dev/null From another computer, send a large file to the listening netcat instance. The audio will be choppy while data is being transferred. If I set fiq_split_enable=0, the audio plays ...

Re: USB FIQ testing....

My app uses around 5%, which is more than I would like; I didn't look too much at the system CPU usage, but it wasn't exceptionally high.

Re: USB FIQ testing....

It's a Behringer UCA-202 ( http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/UCA202.aspx ), but it's rather finicky: if I plug it in after my computer has started, it sometimes crashes -- both on Windows (no BSOD, just a hang) and the Raspberry (no idea what happens). Re: USB FIQ testing....

No, I didn't set the BRANCH. Could it be related to this https://github.com/raspberrypi/firmware ... 79305c63db ?

I looked into dmesg, but there isn't anything else besides "FIQ enabled" and "FIQ split fix enabled". I have yet to try fiq_split_enable=0.

Re: USB FIQ testing....

Hello, I'm not sure that this is the right place and that it hasn't already been reported, but I'll try. I have a headless Raspberry Pi with a USB DAC and I'm streaming raw audio over the network. The ALSA client is not very well written, but it worked with standard kernels. I've previously tried th...
