Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

You could try deleting the cache. Just stop forked-daapd, delete cache.db (probably in /var/cache/forked-daapd/) and restart.

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Well would should happen is that everything gets disabled, not deleted, so maybe there is a bug. If you could add an issue on github with exact steps to reproduce it would be very helpful.

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

I have uploaded forked-daapd version 26.4.79 with these fixes/improvements (again with lots of credit to chme): 1. Use Spotify's new web api for artwork, since previous method seems discontinued by Spotify 2. New JSON api endpoints (see doc on github) 3. Fix for the "permanent" setting not working 4...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Interesting that smart playlists can cause out of memory. I can't think of any particular reason for that.

The deb file from my repo installs a service file with After=remote-fs.target, I would think that should do it. Is it possible you aren't mounting via systemd?

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Is there a log file one can review to see what errors Forked Daapd is generating to track down issues? Yes, see /var/log/forked-daapd.log. The command "service forked-daapd status" might also give you some info. What commands are used to add the service so it starts when the Pi is rebooted or power...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

There was a bug in version 26.4.77 that would cause segfaults, so I have uploaded a new version 26.4.78 where it should be fixed.

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

I think it might take a month or two, more testing is required. However, you can always get the latest from github if clone the repo (or, if you already did, then run "git pull") and then build following the instructions in the INSTALL file. Just remember to backup your config file before running "s...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

I have uploaded a new version of forked-daapd, it is 26.4.77. Improvements (with lots of credit to @chme): - new files page for the web UI - a lot of web UI improvements, e.g. cover artwork, dedicated genre tracks and update when speaker added - support for track and disc in smart playlists - JSON A...

What version of Remote is that? I tried with 4.4.3 and worked ok, also with a new library. But maybe there is a newer version I haven't received yet?

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

The polling shouldn't disturb the web interface, so @chme or I will have to take a look at that. Have you looked at getting the status with "mpc status" from the command line? I would think that we be the easiest way to do it. I don't remember the ALSA procedures around opening/closing devices, so c...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

The radio streams should show up in the "Internet Radio" view in Apple Remote (and only there). If you can't see that view, then press "More" and find it there. They will not show up as playlists unless you enable this option: https://github.com/ejurgensen/forked-daapd/blob/master/forked-daapd.conf....

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

There should already be sync between local audio and Airplay (but with some setups it is apparently not working). The only change in this regard is the new setting "adjust_period_seconds", which you can try to reduce, so that sync correction happens more often.

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

I have updated the RPi version in my repo to 26.4.75.gitbb1347f. Main improvements are to the web interface, which now for instance will display artwork. There is also now support for https streams, and there are some new options to help with some hopefully rare error cases, e.g. Airplay devices tha...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Yes, if you can get ALSA to write the audio to a named pipe in the library. You make the pipe with mkfifo. So basically ALSA will read from audio in and write PCM audio to a pipe, and forked-daapd will then read from that and play it like a regular file. I seem to recall someone did this, not sure e...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Yes, I suppose that could be done. It would be good if you could add the feature request on github.

Have you tried if Shairport's "volume_range_db" setting has an effect when using a pipe?

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

I've made yet a release, it is 26.3.72 on Jessie/26.3.73 on Stretch (the difference in version no. is simply a typo). The release contains the following: 1. If a speaker fails with ipv6 fall back to ipv4 2. Fix for invalid values of time_skipped in the db 3. Limit queue length if requested by Remote...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

I've uploaded forked-daapd version 26.3.71 to my repository. It should work with Airplay 2 devices like Sonos Beam and some Airport Expresses with recent firmware. It also has a fix for connection testing, which should solve a problem where a device could get added even when the address of the devic...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

My build is only for RPi with Raspbian. You won't be able to use it on i386/amd64 Debian even if you add the apt sources because the architecture is different. I don''t know of a i386/amd64 repository for Debian Stretch with updated forked-daapd, so yes, you need to build yourself following the inst...

@cdlenfert, Debian Stretch official repo only has 24.2, it is not very updated. If you want a newer version on Raspbian follow the instructions in the first post in this thread. I will answer the other issue on https://github.com/ejurgensen/forked-daapd/issues/498

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

I've updated the version in the repository to 26.2.70. This version has fix which especially targets ATV4, when ipv6 is enabled. At least my ATV4 was announcing a number of unconnectable ipv6 addresses, so the new version checks for connectivity before registering an address.

I've uploaded an update to forked-daapd (version 26.2.69), because the performance issue @SoundBridgeUser ran into is also likely to affect other users, especially new ones. @SoundBridgeUser thanks for notifying about the error. The output you posted shows that forked-daapd has not triggered a datab...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

@SoundBridgeUser, I have a few more suggestions/ideas: Run sqlite3 on the database and again load the .so file like before. Then: 1. Try to run "SELECT * FROM sqlite_stat1;" and post the output here. It should give information about why sqlite is picking the index it is. 2. Try to run "ANALYZE;" (mi...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

How can the query plan be the same if you deleted the index? The previous plan used the index.

In any case I am running out of ideas on what you can do. It is difficult when I can't reproduce.
