Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

I looked at it and noticed a few problems in the iTunes XML code, so it is most likely a bug in forked-daapd. I'm a making a few fixes. It is unlikely you are placing the file in the wrong location, since forked-daapd moniters all subdirs that are in the tree under your library directory. 1. What do...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Yes, Shoutcast metadata wins over the m3u tags. I don't recall have changed this, I think it has been that way for quite some time. Did you notice from what version you have noticed a change? In relation to which metadata gets used, the format of the m3u doesn't matter, so I don't quite understand t...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

@cdlenfert, I think @chme's suggestion on how to accomplish this is much better than the filtering I was thinking about. With a smart playlist you can control the queue content better, e.g. exclude genres you don't think belong and exclude podcasts/audiobooks etc.

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

It's best to do like it says in the very first post of this thread, i.e. add the repository to your /etc/apt/sources.list. If you install the .deb you won't get updates with apt upgrade. Make sure you have the right the link/line. As you can see in the first post, it should be: deb http://www.gyfgaf...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

In general it might make sense to always exclude "infinite streams" (so also internet radio) when creating a queue - unless the stream is the first item. I'll look into that. I can't figure out why mpd would not be responding during pipe playback, perhaps @chme has an idea about that? I think there ...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

I'm sending music from forked-daapd to airplay speakers via iOS remote. However controls on the speakers (play / pause / skip track / volume) don't seem to be working. Music from other airplay sources (iTunes) etc. can be controlled from the speakers. Does anyone know whether control of forked-daap...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Good to hear from a Roku user, doesn't happen too often :-) I don't have a Roku myself, so it is difficult to test with it. Yes, it should be possible to add some indices to speed it up. In fact, I think there was a similar request a year or two ago, and @chme and I looked into it, but didn't get th...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

I've released 25.0.65 (git 8d043dd) for Stretch and Jessie. Nothing major in this update, just improvements, some fixing up and under-the-hood changes. There are some new mpd commands supported and also some improvements to the web interface/JSON API.

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Hats of for going through this thread! Yes, it is possible, the generel principle is outlined here . But before you dive into that, you might want to consider using a Pebble MPD client instead. A Google search says that there is this: https://github.com/Sorunome/pebble-mpd-client The thing is: Sendi...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

If you have made playlists in iTunes it should be as simple as making sure "iTunes Music Library.xml" is available to forked-daapd in the directories that get scanned. No need to export anything. Forked-daapd should also automatically update the playlists when the file is updated (if it is not a net...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

A bit overdue, but now I've updated my RPi release to version 25.0.64. The improvements in this version are: - fix problem that forked-daapd did not start after reboot - fix for Hyperfine Remote for Android - restore support for updated ATV4/tvOS11 - web interface now supports LastFM login - signifi...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

These Airplay ports are dynamic (meaning they can change over time), so you can't make static firewall rules for them. Not sure why it is like that, but that's how it works.

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

Yes, but if I change the default from artist to song it might break another client. Basically, I can't know for sure how a client is planning on listing the results of a query.

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

The client requests the sort order in the request to forked-daapd. In your case, the client is Hyperfine Remote and it is not requesting any sort order. I think that is a bug in Hyperfine. Apple Remote will for instance make this request when it asks for the song list: /databases/1/containers/1/item...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

That's good to hear. In my experience Retune is also a very good remote for Android, and I think the developer tests it with forked-daapd.

I will look into what is going on with Hyperfine + mark limited support for it in the list.

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

That would be great, just keep it short and sweet. Could you experiment and find out what key-value pairs really need to be there, and if it is possible to just give a fixed recipe - i.e. dropping the steps where you grab the actual txt-string? That would make it more simple. As far as I can tell, m...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

I think you're on the right track, to make it show up in iTunes you need to make sure iTunes gets the mdns announcement. I'm not an expert on mdns, but I'm not sure forwarding forked-daapd's announcement from the LAN will work, perhaps the source address and maybe also port would be wrong? So you mi...

Re: Improved forked-daapd (iTunes server)

What's wrong is probably what the log says: The pairing file is invalid. You are using 24.2, which is not the newest, and the requirements for the pairing file in that version were: First line = device name, second line = PIN. For 25.0, the device name is no longer required. In the instructions ther...
