Re: Python driving 44780 LCD

^
all ordered so we shall see, just one thing:

Seems to be a bit of discussion between the need for a 10k Ohm potentiometer and that a
560 Ohm carbon resistor (0.25w) is all that's needed - is this correct?

thanks,

Do I need to spin down an external HDD

So, I have an external HDD (WD 1tb elements with PSU old model), it works fine but i'm concerned as the pi never spins down the disk so will this continuous access be more likely to kill the drive quicker and should I use something like hdparm to spin it down
or is it nothing to worry about,

thanks

Sharing mp4 files to samsung TV

I have a Samsung H5500 TV and want if possible to stream from my pi where I have a few mp4 files on an ex4 external hard drive. There is a wired network connection between both. It plays mp4 files perfectly from an attached usb stick, but it would be great to dispense with transferring files to usb!...

The issue for me now is storage space, I have filled my small usb stick and want to use an old external HDD I have instead. So what would be the best format for the HDD ex3 or ex4 or ...

Re: Best plug/power for pi

I bought a Texet mains USB charger from Wilkinsons and have found that it does not meet the pi's requirements. Whilst accessing the pi via ssh, nothing else attached except network, tested with a multimeter I was only getting 4.62v and when a usb pen drive was added this dropped to 4.52v. Not enough...
