Hi hal8000, thanks for your post, so I corrected the config file to: media_dir=A,/media/pi/250gb_pi/radio media_dir=P,/media/pi/250gb_pi/pictures media_dir=V,/media/pi/250gb_pi/videos media_dir=V,/media/250gb_pi/tv output of /etc/fsab is as follows: http://pastebin.com/HULUfZtg So i'm assuming I can...

Re: Help minidlna driving me crazy!

Ok made some progress, when I move my media to the SD card directly and add a line to the config file, the file is picked up and can be seen on the network. So i'm thinking this is either permissions or location issue? I have checked the folders and all users can read the files? Anyone have any ideas?

Help minidlna driving me crazy!

I'm trying to get minidlna setup and am encountering some issues, can anyone offer some advice on how to fix? minidlna is installed on a B+, connected to external HDD formatted to ex4, I can see the device on the network but I cannot see any of the files in the folders, which suggests it may be perm...

Re: Simple project/app suggestions

Hi Tim You could use any of the pi's, if you want it to do other things too, get a pi2 if not a zero (when there back in stock) or A would be OK - personally I would get a pi2 https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=85088 Arduino could also be used, but I guess you want to use a pi a...

Who has the most things running on a pi?

I was just wondering who has the most things running simultaneously on a pi, I interested in extra things I can run on my pi's and though it would be good to see what you all use yours for, so mine have the following functions: b - getiplayer and mini dlna, serves up music and video to the network p...

Re: Battery Powered Pi

AA batteries and a voltage regulator also work - see here:
http://www.raspberrypi-spy.co.uk/2013/0 ... batteries/

if your an ee customer you should be able to get the free powerbar they are giving away which should power the pi fine too,

Hi,

not sure about a ribbon cable switch, but you could just use a picam and a supported usb webcam to get your two cameras into one pi,

Re: Minidlna File Structure

Hi, I think I know at least one of the issues, you need to tell minidlna where the media files are media_dir=A,/MEDIA/ext/Music media_dir=P,/MEDIA/ext/Pictures media_dir=V,/MEDIA/ext/Videos then start the service # service minidlna start this blog is a great setup guide- http://bbrks.me/rpi-minidlna...

Re: New HDD - copying 940gb with pi?

Thanks both, so the new drive has arrived and I have formatted to ex4 currently running this rsync command: sudo rsync -rvtP "/media/bertha/WD 1TB" /media/bertha/samsung_4tb took a while to realise I needed quotes round the WD drive name because of the space and that sudo was also required, Anyhow f...

Just looking for an answer to the best way to copy 940ish GB of data from one usb external hard drive (1tb ex4 formatted) to a brand new 4tb (will be ex4) external hard drive which arrives tomorrow (it contains my media files that are served up to the network via minidlna) Is this a job for the pi B...

Freedom pop arrives in the UK - free sim with free data

Can't seem to find a thread relating to freedom pop, but this sounds like it could be great for linking pi's to a cellular network for free. Perfect for weather stations and other data logging http://www.freedompop.com/uk?experience=organic.default Anyone got any plans for when they arrive this summ...

seems to be fine at the moment, just downloaded the NOOBS lite install - only 21.8mb in a few seconds
If you haven't tried the network install try that it should be a swift download depending on your connection

Projects/uses/purposes now possible with a Pi 2

I was just wondering on some of the new possibilities with the enhanced RAM and chip on the pi2, thinking that some of these may now be possible? CD ripping DVD ripping Transcoding NAS - still limited by USB controller - but surely quicker? Kodi should now be really zippy PVR with usb tv receiver an...

Re: Python driving 44780 LCD

Hi texy, apparently to prevent more than 5v getting to the back light, i'm guessing by your reply its not really needed?

also re the 10k pot, do I need to worry about the nominal power watt rating - will the 0.5w one i've ordered be OK?
