Re: Easy headless Raspbian Wifi Setup (for NOOBS)

Did you forget to modify the partition_setup.sh file as mentioned above? because you didn't mention it. You must edit /os/Raspbian/partition_setup.sh by inserting the following line somewhere between the mount and umount lines if [ -e /settings/wpa_supplicant.conf ] ; then cp /settings/wpa_supplican...

Re: Easy headless Raspbian Wifi Setup (for NOOBS)

The wpa copy process is still linked to the networking in NOOBS. Use PINN 2.1 instead for this feature - totally compatible with noobs + some more features.

Re: Can I triple boot Raspbian, OSMC and Recalbox?

I'm no expert in Berryboot. It seems it does not provide recalbox directly, but others have created the appropriate squashfs file for recalbox. See https://sourceforge.net/projects/berryboot-updated-images/files/ . If you use PINN it will list a custom OS image of retropie v3.8 that I created (follo...

Re: Can I triple boot Raspbian, OSMC and Recalbox?

Use NOOBS, PINN or BERRYBOOT. NOOBS & PINN already have images for Raspbian and OSMC. You would have to create your own custom image of Recalbox according to the instructions at: https://github.com/raspberrypi/noobs#how-to-create-a-custom-os-version , and then install all 3 OSes together. I think a ...

I am not able to try this myself yet, but for NOOBS users who want to enable SSH in a default installation, I think this small modification should work... Prepare the SD card in the usual way by formatting to FAT32 with SD formatter with format size adjustment on. Download the full NOOBS version fro...

Re: New Raspbian release "2016-11-25"

I was thinking about that too.... It is possible to use a NOOBSCONFIG script with NOOBS or PINN to create an ssh file on /boot during installation of Raspbian. Or a simple mod to partition_setup.sh should also do it. But these are both for offline installations and won't work when installing from th...

Re: HELP!! Install LCD Touchscreen drivers

You don't say HOW you copied the tar file to your SD card. Did you put the SD card into a Windows PC and just copy it onto there? In which case you copied it onto the NOOBS recovery partition. As you installed via NOOBS, you will have several partitions on the SD card and the NOOBS partition is not ...

Re: UART with 3 devices

Yep, entirely possible. I used this technique to create a ring-type network between about 10 PCs in the 1980s, sending simple popup messages to each PC using a DOS TSR program (anyone remember those?), and even transferring files. You probably need to create a protocol to allow messages to be addres...

Re: Pi pin out connected to pin in on other PI

Make sure the signal wire, but especially the grounds, between the 2 RPI are connected before powering them on. If they are powered (for example) by 2 separate DC adaptors, there is a risk that both grounds are at different potentials (voltages) relative to each other. Connecting them together when ...

Re: [How To] Auto detect hdmi while having dsi display conne

My original instructions were for a "noobsconfig" automated install of an OS that provided 2 flavours, one with DSI switching and one without. For this to work, you have to install the OS from a local source. However, it you want to configure it manually, you don't even need to download the OS to th...

Re: NOOBS & SD Card size

Have you already tried booting into NOOBS? It's not clear if your keyboard/mouse/USB ports worked before your package installation failed or not. If they did work, then maybe you just corrupted Raspbian with your failed package installation, in which case, there is a good chance they will still work...

Re: Quick and simple fan direction test - to blow out or in?

Mine must be a cheap fan, then! :D
I suspect most 2 wire fans are simple DC motors that can be reversed in this fashion, but those with a third wire for PWM control etc or brushless fans may be polarity conscious due to the transistor drive circuitry, so don't reverse drive those.

Re: Quick and simple fan direction test - to blow out or in?

Instead of turning the fan upside down to reverse the airflow, why not reverse the voltage connections? That way you still get the protection for tiny fingers.
(Don't do this on a brushless motor)

Re: PINN - An enhanced version of NOOBS.

PINN is based on NOOBS, so it uses the same wired ethernet or Broadcom wifi drivers that NOOBS uses. The additional wifi and ethernet drivers allow it to be used on a wider range on network adaptors. So it should work fine for you on the built-in wired ethernet port on a RPi3. It could have just bee...

Re: Error mounting NOOBS Libreelec storage partition on dual

This might be due to ubuntu 16.04.
To prove it, try booting a live cd of ubuntu 14.04 and see if that can read it. If that is ok, then it might be due to the riscos pattern noobs puts on the sd card that confuses ununtu 16. There are some old posts on here anout that somewhere....
