Re: Playing Video and running text

You can build that with my tool info-beamer. You can play back videos, load images and have a running text. And more. It's all programmable using Lua, so you can control everything. Have a look at the running_text example here: https://github.com/dividuum/info-beamer-nodes/tree/master/running_text A...

Re: Animated GIF on Framebuffer

You might also just convert your gif files to mp4 using ffmpeg and use (for example) omxplayer. That way you can use the hardware acceleration of the Pi.

stdin is normally buffered. So programs don't receive each received character by default. See http://stackoverflow.com/a/1798833

Re: Screen goes blank when scaling video

I submitted an issue: https://github.com/raspberrypi/firmware/issues/407. I would still be incredibly helpful to have more sample data. So I anyone else could run those two commands at the same time and report back: Thank you!

Re: Screen goes blank when scaling video

Thanks AndyD and gkreidl. I'm going to submit an issue later. gkreidl, are you also using FullHD output resolution? I just tested it on a 1280x1024 screen using a DVI adapter and it works with the two hello_triangle and omxplayer commands above. But once I change the omxplayer win parameter to '0 0 ...

Re: Screen goes blank when scaling video

Can someone help me reproduce this? It would be very helpful to know if it is a hardware problem on my side or if there is some software problem. You don't have to install anything - they are available on Raspbian. Thanks in advance. I tried it on a Pi2 and B+. I bought a new power adapter with 2.1A...

[Solved] Screen goes blank when scaling video

I got weird behavior while developing my software. I was able to reproduce it using omxplayer and the hello_triangle example. On my PI 2 starting the following two programs makes my monitor (FullHD via HDMI+DVI Adapter, tvservice -s says state 0x120016 [DVI DMT (82) RGB full 16:9], 1920x1080 @ 60.00...

Pausing after rendering first frame

Hi. I'm having an OMX pipeline setup like this: decode[131]->[10]scheduler[11]->[90]render / clock[80]->[12]scheduler. I want to pause playback once the render component is displaying the first frame of a video so I can later start playback immediately. Currently I'm busy-polling the render componen...

Re: Real time gauge

An alternative might be using my software info-beamer . I created a gauge example you can clone from github: https://github.com/dividuum/info-beamer-nodes/tree/master/gauge Just download info-beamer. Then start info-beamer with the directory name of the above gauge code. You can change node.lua to s...

Re: info-beamer for PI - A digital signage player and more..

Yep, it's purely for debugging. Ok. Then it should work. What's the correct term I should be using for when something is output to a screen but not output onto a remote desktop connection? It'd hard to google solutions when I don't know what it's called. I don't think there's a specific term for th...

Re: info-beamer for PI - A digital signage player and more..

Is there any way to get the display to show via either of these remote access methods? You might be able to get output using this vnc server: https://github.com/hanzelpeter/dispmanx_vnc But don't expect a good framerate. I guess maximum is 1-2fps. So unless you're only using this for debugging it w...

I just released the latest version 0.8.3. You can grab it here. A blog post provide a description of changes in this version. If you have tried info-beamer previously I'd suggest you give the newest version a try. I used the last months to greatly improve performance.

Re: How do you develop for the Raspberry Pi?

I'm developing in C using vim on my local Linux machine. I have a little script running in the background that basically uses inotifywait to monitor the file system for changes. Every time I save a file, make is triggered and cross compiles my project. If the project is build successful it uses rsyn...

A visual watchdog

I created a visual watchdog tool for the Pi that you can use to automatically detect if some visualisation/program you have running in fullscreen on your Pi didn't change the output on the screen. It's written in C and should compile/work out of the box. I wrote a small blog post about it here https...

You could use this script for my software info-beamer : https://github.com/dividuum/info-beamer-nodes/tree/master/remote-controlled-slideshow Basically you put the script and all the images you want display into a single directory and start info-beamer. It will run the script (node.lua) which provid...

I just threw together a quick proof of concept based on my tool info-beamer . I put the source code for the analog dial on github . Re: pi3d - Fastest way to do dynamic text

I wish to have 3D graphics in the background with number text in the foreground. The number text is position and attitude data so it needs updating at a reasonable rate. I might offer a completely different approach. Just render the 3D with the tool of your choice. Then use my software info-beamer ...

egl_render texture flipped since firmware 45d99f5

Hi. I'm using the egl_render to render decoded videos into OpenGL textures. Similar to the "hello_videocube" example in /opt/vc/. I noticed that the video is upside down since the latest firmware update. I compared different firmware versions and it only seems to be like that since this firmware rel...

Re: info-beamer for PI - A digital signage player and more..

I tried info-beamer on my 512Mb PI last night. It is quite impressive in certain aspects and it seems quite suitable for a signage project that I want to do. The main issue with digital signage is that it needs to run relatively smoothly - at about 30fps. The 'prices' example is still from the days...
