Re: GPIO Detect Signal (power)

HI. You would connect it like this http://i.imgur.com/ncC6ePF.jpg using the values shown the current flow would be in the micro amp range. when doing any thing like this always best test the output were the GPIO will connect with a multi meter set to volts before connecting to the GPIO, its easy to ...

Hi.

There are probably 101 different ways to capture data.

I think you need to provide much more detail on what it is you want to capture and how its to be captured.

Re: Temp probe to CSV file

It's the folder that had the spaces in Phython Files as TempTest seems to have no spaces? " " is often needed to wrap spaced folders or filenames So the original line was "/home/pi/Desktop/outside temp test.py" this breaks down to directory "/home/pi/Desktop/" which is ok and leaves us with a file ...

Re: Click button for next option

Hi. You don't need a counter you just needed to change your program like this. #!/usr/bin/python from time import sleep import RPi.GPIO as GPIO GPIO.setmode(GPIO.BCM) GPIO.setwarnings(False) GPIO.setup(17, GPIO.IN, pull_up_down=GPIO.PUD_UP) while 1: while ( GPIO.input(17)== True): print "loop 1" sle...

Glad you got it working.

For future reference I never use file names with spaces in , if I want file names to make some sort of sense I use "_" to replace spaces.

Re: Temp probe to CSV file

Hi. Before you do that, try one more thing. copy the file outside temp test.py form "/home/pi/desktop" to "/home/pi" and while you are at it change its name to test.py now change your cron line to reflect these changes and try again. one thing I have noticed is linux does not like file names with sp...

Re: Temp probe to CSV file

Hi. OK so now you have a working program, that you want to run with cron. I would change your program to include the full path to to the file "test.csv" as cron will not be running in your normal directory. then try changing your cron line to :- * * * * * python /home/pi/Desktop/outside temp test.py...

Re: Temp probe to CSV file

Sorry about that.

error is because we are trying to add different variable types we just need to change them all to a string
like this.

Code: Select all

csvresult.write(str(temp_c) + "," + str(temp_f) + "," + "\n")

Hi. so as your code is now you if statements just check to see if the button is pressed, so if it is not pressed the lines below each if statement are just ignored, if the button is press then the line are executed. you need to provide instructions on what to do for both button states, to do this yo...

Re: Adafruit Ultimate GPS pulling enable pin high

Thanks for looking up the schematic. I too now see the presence of the R2 resister. If you want to prove this just use a multi meter set to volts and connect it between EN and GND while the board is powered. Shouldn't I set the multi meter to measure Ohms and connect it between EN and GND to measur...

Hi Shylock1966 So I have added my file write lines to your program, I also added an extra print statement just to check that the variables temp_c and temp_f actually have a value. import os import glob import time import datetime os.system('modprobe w1-gpio') os.system('modprobe w1-therm') base_dir ...

Re: Adafruit Ultimate GPS pulling enable pin high

Hi. Having looked at the schematic and the layout diagrams in the pdf file, it would appear that R2 is in fact connected to the EN pin holding it high, so no you don't need an external resistor. If you want to prove this just use a multi meter set to volts and connect it between EN and GND while the...

Hi. Its probably that you are trying to mount your nas share before the network is up hence the "Failed to resolve server //192.168.10.10: Name or service not known" error. you could just set your Pi to wait for networking to come up before continuing the boot process assuming you are using raspbian...
