Re: problem with sleep, and apending to a file

You are getting that error because you are trying to let the variable dirsong equal the variable Blue or the variable Red, where as at the start of the program you set dirsong to have the string "Blue". if you want to change the string you are assigning to the variable, you need to change the string...

You would need to change the current limiting resistor on the LED side of the circuit to 1.6K for a 17v input.

Re: How can i use pci card with raspberry pi?

Even if you could connect a PCI card to your pi , which you can't,

Were are you going to get a driver for said PCI card ? any drivers will be written for x86/64bit based PC's and their motherboard PCI slots.

Idea falls flat on its face at both hardware and software levels.

Re: Controlling a motor with a pi and TB6612

So the first check I would do is to disconnect the motor and connect you voltmeter in its place and then run your code. Do you get a voltage reading on the meter ? Yes - then look at the motor and see if there is a current rating on it , you could be trying to draw more current than the motor driver...

Without being able to see your set up its hard to say, I suggest you post some pictures showing your wiring , making sure we can see it in detail.

You should also check that the 12v motor you are using has the same step sequence as the 5v motor your were using.

I think the one I have now they call a "buck converter". It is more of a switching type of converter flashing the high voltage on & off then smoothing it out to the lower output voltage. If the buck converter you already have is a switch mode converter , were by the incoming DC is switched at high ...

if so there is already a limit switch installed to check if door is fully closed or fully open. or as neilgl suggested install micro-switch for your interface to your monitoring system, but I do recommend full-sized lever roller-cam limit switches as those are more robust. So your problem is that the variable song is defined by this line " song = SELECTION_LETTERS[count_of_letter_pulses -1] + str((count_of_number_pulses)) " now this line is in the function " def calculate_track(): " so when song variable is set it is only set in the function so when you try to call it...

I believe, the fix is a part of the latest update. It is better to upgrade to the latest Raspbian version before starting to do anything with the GPIO ports on Pi 4!! This will save the board from getting spoiled! Saves quite a bit of cost!!! The updated RPi.GPIO package has been out several weeks ...

Re: Complete beginner - Garage Door Dedection

Hi.

You could also do this using 2 magnetic switches one reporting closed and one reporting open, you could then have your pi send an email upon opening and upon closing of the door.

You could do this using the pi gpio and python.

Hi. If you are asking if you can use the 5v pin of the pi gpio header and a step up DC-DC converter to power your solenoid valve I would say No. Your solenoid valve could well draw 1A or more , using a step up converter means you will be drawing approximately 2A from the 5v rail of the pi for every ...

Re: NOOBS 3.2.0 corrupt after running simple Pyton3 program

The first thing to check is how much space you have on the SD card try running df -h at the command line, if you have plenty of space the next thing is to check that you don't have a fake SD card which might well be possible if you got it on line. To test your SD card use H2testw on a windows PC.

One user on here also found his new router would cause the same problem if the PIR was moun...
