Re: NTP not syncing with script.

Aha! - They don't make it easy do they? Now I get a new problem..... pi@raspberrypi2 ~ $ sudo update-rc.d ntp start update-rc.d: using dependency based boot sequencing Use of uninitialized value in string eq at /usr/sbin/update-rc.d line 490. update-rc.d: warning: start runlevel arguments (no...

Re: NTP not syncing with script.

OK so that works, trouble is that ntpd is not started at boot. I tried putting it in rc.local and that didn't work. I tried update-rc.d and got the following error..... update-rc.d: error: unable to read /etc/init.d/ntpd Then I tried a bash script called from cron @reboot and that wouldn't work eith...

NTP not syncing with script.

Hi, I have added a DS3231 hardware clock to my pi. I am trying to sync every morning with the following script....But it always returns 'Timesync not done, exiting'. #!/bin/sh /usr/sbin/ntp-wait -n 5 -s 3 RETVAL=$? if [ "$RETVAL" != "0" ];then echo "Timesync not done, exiting " exit 1 fi When testin...

Re: Buy DAC Jack

That dac should work as it clearly has a 50MHz oscillator on board.

I have a similar card and it's working fine for me.

Re: Pi 2 and I2S dac

There was no single thing I can think of. I just kept trying and trying. Maybe it was an updated kernel or firmware that made the difference as I did a lot of updating/upgrading to try and fix the issue. Anyway, for anyone thinking of trying this, go for it. It is very much worth the effort and outl...

Rpi 2 4.1.3 FStab won't automount at start.

As you can see below, my entry in fstab is not automounting a NAS share on reboot. Running sudo mount -a *does* mount the share, so it's not the config that's the problem. /etc/fstab contains the following........ proc /proc proc defaults 0 0 /dev/mmcblk0p1 /boot vfat defaults 0 2 /dev/mmcblk0p2 / e...

Re: Need better quality audio output, what to do?

I tied a HDMI dac and now have settled on an I2S DAC which gives great sound.

Have a google for rpi I2S DAC or look at www.diyinhk.com to get an idea of what I am talking about.

Re: Pi 2 and I2S dac

However, the pcm interface is available on GPIOs 18 to 21, if those are set to ALT 0. They appear on the header at pins 12, 35, 38, 40. Thanks for the info. Those are the pins I tried without success. How do I make sure the GPIO is set to ALT 0? I have the device tree overlay correctly added to /bo...

Pi 2 and I2S dac

Hi everyone, I have been searching all afternoon and now am totally confused! Can anyone point me in the right direction to achieve this? I already have an original pi model B working with I2S dac on the P5 header, all is well. But try as I might I can't get it work with the Pi 2 model. Is the...

Re: The Raspberry Pi 2 Q&A thread

Thanks, that is already in config.txt (probably added by raspi-config).

I can't test much more now, family time.

Maybe later.

Re: The Raspberry Pi 2 Q&A thread

Ah, OK. I guess it's a waiting game then.

I have done all update, upgrade, dist-upgrade and rpi update firmware to 3.18.5 v7+ so will wait and see (could be a duff pi 2, but I hope not!).

Thanks.

Re: The Raspberry Pi 2 Q&A thread

Yes, lsmod show SPI module loaded, that's what started to confuse me!

Also ls /dev/ shows SPI OK as well.

Thanks for the fast reply! :)

Re: The Raspberry Pi 2 Q&A thread

Just wondering if the GPIO pins on the pi 2 are the same as the B+? I have SPI enabled (showing with lsmod) but no communication with an nrf24l01+. I have tried both sets of mosi, miso, sck pins and different RF modules, still no comms. It works on a Pi1 modelB, and as the pi2 is fully compatible with...

Re: WebIOPi : control your Pi’s GPIO with a browser

First post so please be gentle! ;-) I have a big problem trying to work out how to pulse an output with webiopi. I know some HTML and CSS but no javascript and only a little python. It's a little confusing. So can someone give a step-by-step guide on how to change (say) the GPIO output 24 from a pus...
