Re: VLC Illegal Instruction

Yeah, I grabbed a fresh SD card and did a new install and sure enough, installing VLC there works fine. I'd love to find the problem library and replace it, so I could use some stuff I set up on the old install, but I suppose I can always back up my home directory and migrate....

Re: Updating Raspberry Pi OS

I don't have it installed right now, because I had cleaned everything out, thinking maybe I would build from source. But then if a dependency isn't working, then that still wouldn't help, right? If I install vlc, the vlc I get is still throwing an "illegal instruction."

Re: Updating Raspberry Pi OS

Here you go: vlc: Installed: (none) Candidate: 2.0.3-5 Version table: 2.0.3-5 0 500 http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org/raspbian/ wheezy/main armhf Packages Maybe one of the dependencies is still from the other repo? Is there a way to find packages from a particular source and yank them?

Re: VLC Illegal Instruction

I had that thought too. I was using a package from deb-multimedia, I *think* because the official version had been doing exactly this when I first installed. Anyway, once I got the error, I decided to go back to the official package, so my sources list now looks like this: deb http://mirrordirector....

Re: Updating Raspberry Pi OS

I'm using Raspian Wheezy, but I've now removed the deb-multimedia sources, removed VLC, autoremoved its dependencies, and re-installed, and it's still not working. Any ideas?

Re: Updating Raspberry Pi OS

Maybe those are lines I added for some packages I wanted? The change is small from deb.multimedia to deb-multimedia... the maintainer changed the URL.

Anyway, now VLC isn't working... sooo maybe I shouldn't have done that?

VLC Illegal Instruction

Hey Everybody,

Ever since I ran an "apt-get update && apt-get upgrade" earlier today vlc has been failing with an "illegal instruction."

Anybody else experiencing this?

Updating Raspberry Pi OS

Hey everybody, I had some problems running "apt-get update" on my Pi this morning. I'm guessing they are related to the recent release of Debian Wheezy stable? Anyway, I solved the issues I was having, and just thought I would share what I found here and hopefully save other some trouble. The two er...
