.................. So you spent your cash before researching what you were paying for :o Texy No mention of LED or no LED at Swag, Pihut, Pimeroni or AdaFruit that I can find. And I'm certain I've seen someone mention a flashing LED on the "official" wifi in a post in the forum. MrEngman A bit tent...

Re: Official pi WIFI dongle: no lights?

It should have an LED. People who don't like it can use a pair of tweezers. Or tape. LED with a high value resistor can use just a few micro amps. Hardly a waste. I have several D-Link routers that have blue LEDs at full blast and at night, I don't need to turn on the ceiling lights. See, I have doz...

Re: What to do with multiple raspberry pi's

Are you kidding? There are many uses. I have well over 20 pis.

You can use them as:
* wifi access point
* router
* tor
* web server ( small loads )
* file server
* alarm clock
* data logger
* camera
* portable pc
* IR camera, 'night scope'

Re: Can i connect external HDD directly a Rasperberry Pi 2?

I use a regular 3.5 inch HDD. I use an external USB box with its own plug-in power supply.
Not wise to plug a hard drive directly into the pi.

Re: Best age for Pi

What? My son was 5 when he played with a raspberry pi.
once its running, there isn't much of a difference. except maybe slower and more limited, obviously.
and why not? if he breaks it, get him a $5 pi zero.

also, his 2 year old brother keeps wanting to play with it too.

Never seen those before. Sounds interesting.
Doesn't look very reliable. I guess the pins are expanded. So I guess if you sneeze you would ruin your device.

Re: A Plea for Flash memory in Pi3

Sorry I keep getting the T and the M mixed up in ATMEL. I say it like I spell it too - wrong. Its hard to say it anyway. Anyway, you can yank out the power source of an arduino at anytime because its a micro controller not a full computer that boots up and reads and writes. As many of you have alrea...

Re: A Plea for Flash memory in Pi3

The AMTEL chip's built in memory is only written with a special device. Once you unplug that writer, you can unpower your arduino any time. You can under power it anytime.
SD cards are read-write.

Re: Edimax EW-7811Un

I have more than 10 of those. Those work well with the pi because of their low power requirements. I have a few other ones that are also low power. But this one seems well supported.
I bought so many of these because the 'official' wifi dongle is no where to be found in stores.

Re: Want solderless headers for the Pi0?

What are you talking about?
You mean you want to solder a header or a 40 pin connector to the pi zero?
Any standard one would do. Just cut it down to 20 + 20.
You can get those anywhere. They're cheap.

Re: Model B+ -- availability

Ignore JS, he talketh male cow faeces. Do you means the B+ or the B2? The B2 is likely to be produced for some time, and the B+ is still available, but demand is low (B2 much better) so production is also low. There are no guarantees on any of these, but note that SW support is still there for ALL ...

Re: RPi Zero - replace micro-USB with USB A?

The micro USB host is be cause of size constraints.
But the MINI HDMI is weird because a micro HDMI is more common and is well....smaller and take up less space on the circuit board. And a mini HDMI is less common. I've seen them in specs and I've seen cables, but never seen it on an actual device.
