Re: Controlling multiple devices online.

Have one pi at the gateway, open to incoming traffic. Just one port will do. Preferably the ssh port, or port 22. Have someone who knows what he's doing help you out.

There's a mountain you need to climb.

Re: pi 2 says cam 2 is 5MP cam 1

Run raspistill with no parameters and it will tell you an application version number. What is it? "vcgencmd version" will give you a firmware version. What is it? "uname -a" will give you a kernel version. What is it? For all we know you may still be on an old Wheezie release, in which case updates...

pi 2 says cam 2 is 5MP cam 1

My pi 2 says my 8MP camera 2.1 is a 5MP camera 1.3 No matter how I apt-get update and reboot, it still shows up as 5MP. the jpg properties in windows show a camera RP_OV5647. Shows fstop f/2 which is correct for the 8MP cam. The old 5MP shows f/2.9 focal len: 3mm. The old cam is 4mm. So, correct her...

rpi0w Hand warmer

How about it folks?
I was walking around with a powered pi zero in my pocket and it kept me warm. Well, slightly anyway. Its only 100 mA or so. I guess if you put a bunch of them to together it would warm you up a bit.

Re: Turning on Zero W every hour

A timer such as a 555 integrated circuit that I grew up with ( ancient ). Or any timer that provides a single pole, single throw switch. And on the pi there a power switch connector. Its marked 'run'. BTW when the pi zero w is completely off, it still uses power. The rpi0 w at idle: 110mA file xfer ...

Or hang it so that the long ends are up and down. And remove two panels. This creates a [slow] wind tunnel.

Re: Overheating dangers between RP2 vs RP3

The new Pi2 (v1.2) has the same ARMv8 based SoC as the Pi3 but is clocked at 900Mhz instead of 1.2GHz for the Pi3. You are free to downclock the Pi3 to any speed you like. In any case the Pi's lifetime is measured in decades. The Pi will protect itself by progressively throttling the clock speed ba...

the papirus plugs directly to the zero and is supported.
That would be the better bet because if it doesn't work, you have someone to call and yell at.

Re: rpi3b chrmnium play youtube, cpu jump from 4% to 230%

Its choppy at 1920x1080 and 1280x720. But since I'm using this particular pi3 to play kiddie videos, I lowered the resolution to below those I have listed. I guess I could rig up a script that polls the cpu and if it finds a process above x%, kill it? Better than killing the system every time and co...

Re: Official RPI0 Case has no SD card access

Now, for the design. The case comes with three white covers. All three can be merged into one. You have one blank, solid cover. You have one with GPIO slot cut out. You have one with a hole in the middle for the camera. Why not have press-outs marked from the inside (or punch out in the USA. Are we ...

Re: Official RPI0 Case has no SD card access

Well, I did some box cutter therapy. I used a red hot butter knife and burned a hole where the SD card would come out. Then I smoothed it out with a box cutter. There's no space to create a hole big enough to comfortably pull out the SD card. But its still better than taking out the circuit board an...
