Re: Steve's Computer Vision Raspberry Pi Automatic Video Loo

This code in startvideo.sh creates a list of files to play once when the script starts. FILES=/home/pi/videos/ current=0 for f in `ls $FILES | grep ".mp4$\|.avi$\|.mkv$\|.mp3$\|.mov$\|.mpg$\|.flv$\|.m4v$"` do vids[$current]="$f" let current+=1 echo "$f" done max=$current The script runs the loop wit...

Re: I cannot install gmp

OK. Always good to see machine output. You have Debian Wheezy, which for the RPi is called Raspbian. First thing, make sure you are up to date by doing the following sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade This will make sure everything already installed is up to date. apt-get is the package manage...

Re: I cannot install gmp

./configure is attempting to find all the bits necessary to compile gmp. It can't find m4, which is a macro preprocessor which is used a lot in GNU packages. The package m4 needs to be installed. But that probably won't solve all your problems. You may need to install other build tools. For Debian t...

Re: Raspberry Pi Artificial Intelligence - Life Assistant

You've asked for one of the Holy Grails of computing. Everybody wants one and no one has written an agent that's ready for prime time. It's what's been called a non-trivial task. Search for 'intelligent personal assistant' or 'software AI agents' and start reading. One project that popped up a coupl...

It appears that apticron only checks for updates and sends an email when they are available. And what you are asking for is some way to automatically check, download and commit new upgrades without human intervention. The easiest way would be to put the following in a script and execute it with cron...

In addition to the --color option grep has options that will print n lines before the match and/or n lines after the match, -A n || --after-context =n -B n || --before-context=n For example, assuming the MYWIFI you are looking for with grep is in the first line of the section of the output you want ...

This is from http://gcc.gnu.org/wiki/Atomic : (the last line is the meat) The following architectures do provide functions in libgcc, but only for linux targets. There are no native atomic instructions, but the linux kernel provides support for software atomic operations. These architectures support...

Re: Run a file after login

I'm assuming you are using Raspbian. When You log in you are given a bash shell. While bash is coming up (so you can type in it) it reads and executes commands in the file /home/pi/.bashrc. Since this file starts with a period (.) it is normally hidden. A directory listing with the -a (lowercase a) ...

Re: HOWTO: Move the filesystem to a USB stick

Just got around to doing this for my stay-at-home Pi.

Thanks Paul, you saved me a lot of investigative work...

One nit. I nearly got off track when updating the /etc/fstab file. Perhaps the instructions could specify that it is the fstab on the stick/hd and not the one on the SD.

Thanks again.

But seriously folks, can you give me some idea what it is for? What can you do with it? Can it be used as a mouse? Keyboard? Serial port? What? It is a development board for USB projects. It has the USB connector and electronics to connect to, say, the Pi's USB. Say you have an old Atari 2600 joyst...
