Re: XBMC playing MKV 720p video stops

Update: I tried the exact same setup on a model B (512mb) and there was NO issue with playback from the EXT4 3TB hard drive. Is there something with Raspbmc w/r model A that is the issue? Or is the issue that there is a hardware issue with the model A? I have several model As and they are all exhibi...

Re: XBMC playing MKV 720p video stops

Like I mentioned, I tried both a EXT4 and NTFS drive. The first drive I tried was EXT4, and I only tried the NTFS to validate if it could be an issue with either the EXT4 drive or the dislike of EXT4 by raspberry pi. The fact it does the same thing on two different drives leads me to believe it does...

Re: XBMC playing MKV 720p video stops

It's a powered enclosure (NexStar CX to be exact). So it's a USB2/esata enclosure. I'm not using a hub -- direct connect to USB port. I would suspect that a USB2 hard drive (obtains a steady 38-39MB/s) would be faster than reading off a class 10 SD card (rated up to 30MB/s)

XBMC playing MKV 720p video stops

When I test playing a MKV 720p video off of either a 3.5" 3TB EXT4 drive or 3.5" 2TB NTFS drive attached via USB2 (powered enclosure obviously), the video will randomly stop playing at some point. Sometimes at 1 min in, sometimes 4 mins in. Seems very random. I don't see the hard drive overly active...

Re: Very slow SFTP / SCP performance

Actually, now I'm not sure what is the cause of the capped SCP/SFTP/rsync (over ssh) on the raspberry pi. I noticed rsyncing between two core 2 duo systems with 8GB of ram had a 2.5MB/s transfer rate as well. This was over wifi, so perhaps 20mbps over G (within close promixity of eachother and with ...

Re: Very slow SFTP / SCP performance

Sorry, I'm mistaken, I'm getting 2.5MB/s over rsync.

Re: USB Drive(s) not recognised

I read that back powering off a usb hub as the power source for the pi can damage the pi. I'd like clarification as well.

I have a Y cable I use for a hard drive, and it is back powering the pi. I hook up the main power as well, hoping it'll receive it's power through that means.

Re: Very slow SFTP / SCP performance

You might want to try rsync.

I rsync between computers and the raspberry pi and I encounter 20MB/s transfer rates.

Re: Model A wifi confusion

I too recently purchased a Model A after using a dlink USB wifi on my Model B without any issue. Now I notice that streaming on the Model A will cause the wifi to eventually "power off" where the light goes out, and the connection is permanently dropped. Have you guys considered modifying the power ...
