Re: Guide: Chromium 50 on Raspbian Jessie

Chromium works fine when you boot it but then if you leave it on without touching the pi for a couple of hours it becomes unusable, completely unresponsive (just scrolling takes like 1 minute). What can cause this?

Aeon Alpha

http://aeonalpha.com/aeb.svg http://rupy.se/2.gif I just ported my multiplayer space shooter. Performance: RPi 2 ~15 fps. RPi 3 ~25 fps. RPi 3+ ~33 fps. RPi 4 ~48 fps. For comparison: Old PC ~300 fps. New PC ~500-800 fps. You need: - A Raspberry Pi 3+. - The recent release of Raspbian (2018+). Inst...

Re: Oracle license fees for Java on Raspberry Pi are cheap

If I build and sell RPi 2 hardware to play videos and show chromium in kiosk mode with a Java driven web server on big screens do I have to pay a license fee? If so how do I calculate the fee? Do the cores at 900Mhz push me into the chip class II? Can I underclock them to avoid it? So it would be $3...

Now I have built a multiplayer engine on top of this:

Has both Javascript HTML5 and Unity C# clients!

Also I built a forum module:

@texy @jamesh please let us know (in this thread if not in the blog) when this is solved.

Can't wait to try OpenGL and LWJGL can't really start integrating before this works!

It doesn't work on RPi2 either if you have the wrong screen... Same failure rainbow square then black screen.

I see no wheels spinning anywhere. The page "two" has no content.
That's it, the "hello" comes from two... that is async comet stream. Two should be empty, it's just receiving the request to push "hello"

I can't get either of you | one | < "hello" | two | demos to do anything. I notice both the "two" pages are empty <head> and <body> elements. There is nothing there. Do you have a stream demo that does not use flash? In Javascript. You need to open both at the same time, one and two in two tabs sim...

Re: RPi 1, RPi 2, RPi 3 vs. OPi 1

Well, you need multicore support; the way I do microservices everything can run anywhere, it's the only way to scale and make a distributed system fail proof. So when I deploy any code it gets broadcasted async to all nodes, same with data! That sounds like a problem only because most systems are su...

Re: RPi 1, RPi 2, RPi 3 vs. OPi 1

Ah, so you are reinventing the async wheel for Java. Async programming like that is what we have all been doing with node.js and Javascript for years now. Of course async programming in JS is much easier as JS was designed to be async from the very beginning. Node.js is 100% async unless you go out...

Re: RPi 1, RPi 2, RPi 3 vs. OPi 1

Bullen, I'd appreciate it if you could explain what you mean by "async-to-async headerless HTTP" I think I get the "async" part but HTTP is pretty much defined by it's headers. You can read about it here: https://github.com/tinspin/rupy/wiki/Fuse It's a way to hand over work between threads so they...

Re: RPi 1, RPi 2, RPi 3 vs. OPi 1

Smart watch irony, with a tiny logic of responsibility. I actually sleep better if I get punished by my mistakes, a bit insane, but still true. My system uses async-to-async headerless HTTP with "less headers" to synchronize all the nodes concurrently. This means zero IO-wait and scales great on sma...

Memory is only a problem if you have bloated software, I've built this appserver/database from the ground up to be super optimized for memory, performance and developer ease of use. Speaking as someone who has been programing for a bit over 50 years, I can tell you that the better your optimization...

Yep, the big win is the 10$ price. They actually cost less each than the 32GB SD cards I'm going to put in them!? The real big point here isn't the Orange Pi boards being cheap but that they cost less than the sdcards you were going to put in them. Net boot is huge for anyone looking to build with ...

@jamesh Absolutely, I was just so happy I got anything to work on the board at all.

Armbian has come a long way!

Also remains to be seen the stability long term both on the hardware side (physical failures) and software side (kernel panic, memory leaks etc).

But so far it seems to work fine.

Re: RPi 3 SoC at nearly 100 °C, reporting 80 °C

Preliminary results (without testing the RPi3 yet) CPU + eth on the Orange Pi One is 2x the RPi 2! This means Raspberry Pi products are 6x less performant per power/ price. That is 600%! Unless the OPi One SD card speed is crap or the power consumption is completely bonkers (both unlikely) we have a...
