The new kernel is a lot better. Not only have the kernel panics gone away, but network throughput has also increased. I can now transfer files to my Raspi at over 500Kb/s.

How strange! This shouldn't cause any problems, since these holes are designed to accept a row of pins. I think that P3 is an ARM debug connector. The schematics show that pin 6 isn't used :D
