Re: where to find build recipe for kernel package

I think maggie is searching for something akind to this which Arch ARM uses; I highlighted line 47 where you see the Arch build script applies patches.

Re: What is your idle CPU usage running xbmc? Mine is high!

The act of unplugging the SVideo and giving it an HDMI somehow cleared the high usage; perhaps it was that I forced cycled the resolution from 720i to 1080p followed up an exit and reboot or something. After I reconnected the RPi back to the SDTV that is uses, the CPU usage has dropped from 90+ on i...

Re: What is your idle CPU usage running xbmc? Mine is high!

@jamesh - My numbers seem to be 4x-8x higher than those of cdo and dom. @cdo - Are you outputting via HDMI or SVideo? Mine is going out the SVideo which might be the problem? I need to move it to a monitor for testing this. EDIT: Nope. Connecting to an HDTV via HDMI and adjusting the resolution in t...

Re: What is your idle CPU usage running xbmc? Mine is high!

I know there is an internal meter, but the command I posted should be easy for anyone to run from an ssh term. I am interested in learning what the idle CPU loads are for other RPi people out there. To keep the thread on topic, please contribute. Connect via ssh and look at the output of the followi...

What is your idle CPU usage running xbmc? Mine is high!

I'm interested in seeing the %CPU use of an idle xbmc on other people's RPis. Here is a simple command that will look at the %CPU use of xbmc.bin once every 15 seconds for 1 min and log the output to a nice file. Connect via ssh and look at the output of the following command: for i in {1..4}; do ps...

Jordi just pushed some changes to monitorix that logs to an rrd database many if not all of the sensor output of the pi. Screenshot:

Try using ufw or something like it to setup the rules? (Assumes your rules are incorrect.)

Xbmc crashes upon using 'official xbmc remote app' [SOLVED]

I am experiencing a freeze of xbmc only when controlling it via the official-xbmc-remote app . No instabilities if I use the http interface. My box is a standard RiP running an otherwise up-to-date Arch ARM. I can reproduce this using either package: *alarm/xbmc-rbp 12.1-1 *aur/xbmc-rbp-git 20130204...

Re: Vnc server

Haven't tried running headless but I still doubt it: tightvnc and tigervnc both run their own sessions in X whereas x11vnc can only attach to an existing session. Post the output of:

Code: Select all

vncserver

You sure about that? It should be running a parallel session, in other words, not what you're seeing on your monitor.

Re: Vnc server

If your intent is to have a parallel vncsession, i.e. NOT to control what you are outputting to the monitor/TV I do not recommend tightvnc but rather tigervnc. All you want to know about it: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Tigervnc If your intent is to see what the monitor/TV is seeing, you wil...

If you have indeed tracked this back to the specific packages mentioned, please open a bug report with Arch ARM! They do not have the flyspray system that Arch official does but they are using github... https://github.com/archlinuxarm/PKGBUILDs/issues/446 I would invite others experiencing problems...

Re: Any success using WOL on a RPi

Thanks for the reply. Considering using it on my car and don't want to drain the battery when the car is off... tell me how you are underclocking to 100 MHz when idle. I can interrogate the current frequency via: % cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_cur_freq 700000 ..but as you can see...

Any success using WOL on a RPi

According to the specs, the RPi does support magic packet WOL. Indeed, installing the ethtool package and querying eth0 shows support: % sudo ethtool eth0 | grep Wake-on Supports Wake-on: g Wake-on: d One can enable 'g' mode which allows magic packet WOL like this: % sudo ethtool -s eth0 wol g % sud...
