MCP23017, how to: 8 inputs and 8 outputs

I wanted to get 8 inputs on Bank A to control 8 Relays on bank B I am using 5.6 metres of catV cable without problems Thanks to: DougieLawson, Davidjlittle, ericcnc, techpaul, rpmines, nathanchantrell for their inspiration For this to work you need to make a folder mcp23017 under your pi folder and ...

didn't really understand your code, but what I do: 1_on.py #!/usr/bin/env python import time import os os.system("/home/pi/mcp23017/mcp23017.py -b b -o 0 -s high") f = open('/var/www/1_status.html', 'r+') f.write ("<HTML><H2><BODY><FONT SIZE=15><FONT COLOR=ff0000>" +"\n") f.write ("ON ") f.close() h...

Re: Using both python and wiringpi

Thanks Paddy for your reply. Are all your different things running as different programs and initializing the GPIO themselves? -- Yes, all my scripts use "import RPi.GPIO as GPIO". They all work on different GPIO, MCP23017, MCP3008 pins and they don't seem to conflict with each other. I tried raspbe...

Using both python and wiringpi

I have used python on my rpi for: monitoring my house alarm via MCP3008 to send sms DS18B20 Temp graphs by anita2r water meter Elec meters switching via 8 relay board and MCP23017 However I want to use 433mhz Maplin remote socket, I tried Raspberry-strogonoff, which insists using wiringpi. I find th...

Re: raspberry-strogonanoff wont work on RPi2 (solved)

I was messing about and i broke it again, but i don't know how. This is what I do on a RPi b STROGANOFF: logged in as root 1. Install pip "sudo apt-get install python-dev python-pip" 2. install WiringPi2 with pip install "sudo pip install wiringpi2" 3. cd ~ 4. git clone https://github.com/WiringPi/W...

Re: raspberry-strogonanoff wont work on RPi2

Thanks Dirk for your response. I tried that on a new sd card root@raspberrypi:~# sudo python /root/raspberry-strogonanoff/src/strogonanoff_sender.py --channel 1 --button 1 --gpio 0 on Traceback (most recent call last): File "/root/raspberry-strogonanoff/src/strogonanoff_sender.py", line 62, in <modu...

raspberry-strogonanoff wont work on RPi2 (solved)

Just spent the afternoon trying to get git clone https://github.com/dmcg/raspberry-strogonanoff.git to work. Just about to give up and tried the same sd card in an Rpi B and hey presto it worked perfectly with : http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/remote-controlled-mains-sockets-5-pack-n38hn or http://powerci...

Re: Send sms when GPIO goes low

Thanks Guys for your help. Got the send_sms.py http://www.sbprojects.com/projects/raspberrypi/sms.php I did the following and it actually works, using 3 inputs :D However it will only send 1 text even if the pin goes low and high again ( need to work on that) import RPi.GPIO as GPIO import time impo...

Re: Send sms when GPIO goes low

Tried the above and can get gpio inputs, outputs and counting from Magpi2 and google code.

However when a pin goes LOW how do I get it to run:

sudo /home/pi/SendSMS/send_sms.py +3538222222 PIN1

Re: Send sms when GPIO goes low

thanks guys for your input. @Pluggy, Thanks for your ideas, I was hoping for a more responsive way to send the sms rather than cron polling every couple of minutes and BASH is outside my comfort zone but I will probably have to learn it sometime. @rts have read the magpi to vol 10 and just went back...

Send sms when GPIO goes low

Been playing with my RPi for a couple of weeks, and new to Linux. Using http://www.sbprojects.com/projects/raspberrypi/sms.php I am able to get my pi to send a text by typing : /home/pi/SendSMS/send_sms.py +3538222222 PIN1 I can also get pin 25 to light a led so I have the RpiGPIO installed. Ideally...
