Re: Pi4 won't keep screen resolution.

Having looked up what a Prolite E4355 display is it appears to use a DVI input rather than HDMI. So, if that's the case what are you using to convert micro-HDMI to DVI? Eg. a single cable or cable(s) + adapter(s). Others have reported strange issues with some adapter combinations.

Re: Pi4 won't keep screen resolution.

It's a Prolite E4355. It says [E] Failed to initialize VCHI (ret=-1) In response to all those commands. That's after changing resolution, "Before" will have to wait until next time I log in, but I don't think it will be different... I did try changing config.txt to try to force the screen size, but...

Re: Pi4 won't keep screen resolution.

I can set the screen resolution quite happily to 1280 x 1064 using the Screen configuration tool, but it always goes back to 1024 x 768 when I restart X-windows. Why is it doing it and how do I get it to keep the chosen settings? What sort/make/model of display are you using? Is it being "detected"...

Re: Pi 4 boot fails at rainbow screen

Hi, Given the lack of response, I'm assuming there is no known process to fix this. I reformatted the SD-Card and started again. Back up an running, but of course substantial wasted time. I imaged the SD this time after initial configuration. If it happens again, I'll have to conclude a defective S...

I'd like to test this myself.... is this on a recently updated/upgraded Raspbian buster on RPi4B?
I'm not sure if you're referring to my post(s) or the O.P's - in my case, yes (see other thread linked to earlier for "uname" info.)

Re: Pi4- USB NTFS HDD mounting for idiots

sorry FTrevorGowen, it was a typo above. I'm logged in as 'pi', not 'Pi'. Your link was interesting. I tried using the filemanager directly AND the desktop shortcut, and still am only able to access the drive as Read Only. FWIW, I've just plugged in an ntfs formatted Seagate** 1TB expansion drive a...

Re: Swapping SD Card from one Pi4 to another

Swapping microSD card (with raspbian buster, initial full setup done on RPi4B-4G) between RPis is how I test newly arrived RPis. always boots normally as expected, never had any problems even with RPi4, RPiZ, etc. I've done that too or cloned a card with the SD Card Copier and used the clone (and s...

Re: Pi4- USB NTFS HDD mounting for idiots

I think we are getting to the crux of the issue- I am logged in as "Pi", and whenever I plug in this USB HDD, it mounts as read only. The HDD in question is a 2TB mechanical HDD. Earlier today I tried mounting a 500 GB Solid State drive (via a 3.5" Drive enclosure to USB adapter), and it mounted co...

Re: Rpi4 Can't connect to 5Ghz, can to 2.4Ghz

Might have figured it out. My 5GHz SSID was in the high range. Channels 149-161 When I dropped it down to the low range (channels 36-48), it now see's it in the scan. Went into Raspi-Config and it connects now. I guess the Rpi4 is much more limited in 5G than I thought. May also depend on the count...

Auto-mounted USB drive permissions "confusion"?

Background: I use two USB3 DataTraveler USB sticks with one of my P4B's one of which is always plugged in, the other only when I'm backing up, usually via Unison. Today my backup failed because the backup drive which had been plugged in after boot appeared to be "read only" for the pi user, subseque...

Hi everybody, I was using a Pi 3, and now I moved to a Pi 4. I discovered a new feature in the Pi 4 that didn’t exist in the Pi 3. The Pi 4 doesn’t boot when a plugged TV is off. This is annoying for me since I want the Pi 4 to boot and to turn on the TV via CEC-Client. Is there any way to change t...

FWIW, I've used a selection of pre-built "Level Shifter Modules" most of which are, AFAICT, based upon a similar approach to your circuit: https://www.cpmspectrepi.uk/raspberry_pi/MoinMoinExport/GpioLevelShifterModules.html At least one the links in the above page points to a test board that has sub...

Re: Setting up a Raspberry Pi 3B

1) What happens if you move the SD card that is working (setup) from the P4B to the P3B? 2) Are you using the same type of display for both Pi's? (ie. both are true monitors or T.V.'s not "one of each" - monitors normally use DMT HDMI modes, T.V.'s CEA modes and some T.V.'s have "peculiar" edid data...

I have the official power adapter for the Raspberry 4. Can I safely use it on a Raspberry 3? Should be O.K.
