question on imaging SD and such

I have taken files from a last used SD card, and I see a kernal.img

I want to try and wipe the SD card, and re-write the last file to it again.

Is the kernal.img file the one I want? I only see that .img file.

I want to read this file to a folder, and write from it back to the SD card.. correct?

SD card fail

I have a 3 month old SanDisk Ultra Sd card that is having issue with the PI.

The card won't boot, but IF I use the older card the Pi boots up?

Is there a list of preferred vendors for SD card to use?

Is there any way to test the SD card to see IF it is fine, and the Burn of wheezy is the culprit?

Re: Quad core development board

The B-Pi is not Raspberry Pi, if mention it's full name my post would probably get deleted. I thought when we hashed this out a few weeks ago, the conclusion was that the B-Pi was largely vaporous. At best, a hoax. No, it does exist. I think Eben has taken a look at one (Foundation tend to buy in t...

Re: Quad core development board

Unlike the B-Pi there's also no IDE or SATA interface which means you storage?? where is the IDE or SATA interface on the RPI-B Board please? The green cable looks a like standard USB connector with 4 dupont ends nothing special and certainly not worth the 8 dollars. The specs look pretty good altho...

Neat https://www.miniand.com/products/Radxa%20Rock%20Dev%20Board There is a lot of them. Radxa is close to Android HDMI dongles and can run Picuntu which I'm trying to install on one of the dongles :) What would be neat for me is a dev board in a shape of phone or mini tablet - so that it has batte...

Custom prompt

Hello

I am trying to figure out how to permanently change my prompt to:

displays who is logged in: w -s
and the $

so prompt would be; time + who is logged in + $

how does one do this??
