Re: OpenArena - unplayable - slow

OpenArena runs not as great as Quake 3 on the Pi 1 but the menus should be navigable without lag. Is it rendering in software?

Valgrind with callgrind option in combination with KCachegrind is great to find bottlenecks in programs (compile with debug information).

Re: [Tutorial] OpenGL 1.x games

glshim is still being developed and has come quite far according to this feature matrix: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... LVE0KTjU2k

So if any games didn't work properly before they may now.

What error message does it show? I don't own a RPi2 yet so I can't really try myself (I could build it on the RPi1 but that wouldn't be fun).

Re: Minetest on Raspberry Pi

I once ran the unmodified source from the official repos on a RPi1 with glshim to translate OpenGL calls to OpenGL ES calls. It worked but was very slow (3-10FPS).

Can you post a link to this Doom 3 ARM port? Does it support OpenGL ES 2.0?
Is it this one: https://github.com/AreaScout/dante-doom3-odroid ?

Without much knowledge of how emulators work, what exactly can be vectorized to make use of NEON instructions?

Re: League of legends

Does League of Legends have support for ARM processors and OpenGL ES? I don't think so. Also, keep in mind the Pi's GPU roughly equals to a Geforce 3. Is LoL even playable on a GF3?

Re: Gamecube Pi-table

The NIC, networking stack of the OS, switches etc. all have an influence on latency. I don't know if any real time game has ever been run on a cluster (if someone knows, please tell me). Keep in mind that the software needs to be adjusted for clusters as well.

Re: R-Pi MMORPG Community Project (UNDERWAY/NEEDS MORE HELP)

Do you want to run both client and server on RPis? I think that a project like this is too much work with all the assets etc. However, with the Pi2 out, it may be possible to port Planeshift, an already existing open source MMORPG to the RPi. Have a look at Planeshift. It's been in development for 1...

Re: 01/16 UltraSlim = Retro/Gaming/Q3|XBMC 12/13|Desktop + m

Thanks for the Image, I love how I can switch between HTPC and desktop use in seconds. However I wanted to know how the audio emulation performs for others. It sounds horrible in all RetroArch cores. Gameplay is fine though. I've overclocked to 800MHz which sadly is the highest setting my Pi can han...

You might want to add a note that SD card performance especially for a Minecraft server is not only determined by seq. write/read speeds but even more by 4k write/read speeds.

Re: Tekkit Lite Server On The Pi: Tutorial

Minetest, an open-source clone of Minecraft, offers similar features like Tekkit ("technic mod") with the advantage of much better performance. It's also more convenient to use because only the server has to hold the mods, the client will download them automatically. Might be worth a shot to try on ...

I wanted to try glshim on my RPi but I couldn't get it to work. I downloaded precompiled libGL.so.1 and libGLU.so.1 from http://bochs.info/pnd/.gl/ and put them into $HOME/lib. SD card performance matters but in your case I think it might be the Pi generating new terrain or doing other CPU-intesive tasks. Use /timings in Minecraft to see what eats up your CPU.

If anybody wondered if an Odroid-U2 would be a significant upgrade to a Raspberry Pi as a Minecraft server these videos might help you. I do the same benchmark in Minecraft on both of them.
