Re: Would Assault Cube be possible?

libGLU was a requirement before but apparently assaultcube removed it as a dependency recently. You don't need an x86 PC to compile assault cube or anything else. The only reason why people here cross-compile is because it's much faster. However, since I get a segfault with bloboats with latest Rasp...

Re: Xash3D Engine on Raspberry Pi

Don't use sudo for cmake. It isn't required and may screw up file permissions.

SDL2_image is a separate module you have to install manually. See here for a guide: viewtopic.php?p=544740

Re: Would Assault Cube be possible?

Adding it to LD_LIBRARY_PATH is correct. However you are doing it wrong. You say 1. LD_LIBRARY_PATH=x 2. LD_LIBRARY_PATH=y So y will overwrite x. You have 3 options to do it correctly: 1. Put libGLU.so.1 in the same directory as libGL is so you only need one LD_LIBRARY_PATH. 2a) Use this to use mult...

Re: Would Assault Cube be possible?

Try gdb --args /usr/lib/games/assaultcube/ac_client --home=${HOME}/.assaultcube_v1.104 --init Now that I think about it, assaultcube may actually require libGLU. Perhaps you can get it to work with glues+glshim: https://github.com/lunixbochs/glues (I will add glues to my glshim script when I got tim...

Re: Would Assault Cube be possible?

gdb is a debugger. Basically you compile the software with debugging symbols (I think all software from the apt repositories is already compiled with debugging symbols) and then run it in gdb like this: gdb assaultcube <gdb will load the symbols and then prompt you what to do> (gdb) r # r is short f...

I don't know. I didn't realize it requires the HL1 SDK. But apparently it runs on the OpenPandora: http://pandoralive.info/?p=5043

Re: Xash3D Engine on Raspberry Pi

1. It's missing the sdl2 dev files. Build sdl2 yourself, there are some tutorials out there.
2. Use

Code: Select all

cmake -DHL_SDK_DIR=PATH_TO_HALF_LIFE -DXASH_SDL=yes -DXASH_VGUI=yes
still no guarantee that it'll work in the end but if you managed to compile it it would be a start.

Bummer. Have you tried to debug it with gdb to see where the segfault originates from?

At least Cube seems to be working with glshim: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvscZ9fuu1o

Re: Minecraft Bukkit

You can remove the

Code: Select all

-dmS minecraft
section for testing.
It may also be possible that -server does not work on RPi1, I remember it didn't work in the early days but I don't remember if it was fixed later on.

If we are talking about CPU/GPU-split then allocate 16mb to the GPU.
If we are talking about Java heap size I think I had it set to 288mb or something like that.

Re: Minecraft Bukkit

When I ran Spigot on an RPi1B it would crash reliably every 3 days because it exceeded the RAM. You can work around that by arranging a swap space but I'm afraid it'll hurt performance. Performance on RPi1B was ok though. There was some lag every now and then (usually when someone turned his redston...

Re: Minecraft Bukkit

Just copy the server folder to the RPi via SCP and then run it in Java. For 24/7 use you would need Backup scripts and Crash handlers but there are enough tutorials for that on the net already. Running it one the Pi is no different from running it on a regular Linux server so you can use any Linux t...

Re: Hosting a Minecraft Server

Greatly depends on the plugins and number of players. The RPi2's advantage is its super low power consumption. 24/7 RPi2 means roughly 8€ per year for electricity while an old PC may cost ten times as much.

glshim: Shell script to make playing OpenGL 1.x games easy

What is this about? There are still many games which have not been ported to OpenGL ES or the RPi in particular. You can still play these games by either a) running them in software mode. This means graphics are calculated on the CPU. Usually results in 0-5fps for any game where graphics consist of...

Re: Would Assault Cube be possible?

It probably software rendered if it's so slow = the graphics are all calculated on the CPU. The OpenArena port in the PiStore has been ported to OpenGL ES to make use of the Pi's GPU. Assault Cube would need to be ported as well to make use of the GPU. You may be able to make it work with glshim tho...

Re: TitaniumGL - ,,Desktop'' OpenGL 3D driver

This is just a multicore software renderer. For better performance one should use glshim, which works in a similar way but uses the Pi's GPU to reach almost full speed. It's free, too.

It's still nice to see new software renderers coming up, competition is always good.

Re: FreeDroidRPG a diablo-esque RPG. Install & Setup: Pi & P

I set up a Pi for desktop use and compiled glshim but got some errors. When I used glshim before I didn't experience any errors at compile time which is why I made a ticket on glshim's GitHub page: https://github.com/lunixbochs/glshim/issues/76

Hopefully they get resolved soon.

Have you tried to run it with glshim for hardware acceleration? If it supports OpenGL 1.x it should work.

Re: R-Pi MMORPG Community Project (UNDERWAY/NEEDS MORE HELP)

Problem is Visual Studio doesn't comply with the C++ standard (only to Visual C++) and allows a lot of code which is not standard C++ and thus won't get compiled by GCC or any other compiler. For an example see my fixes for Rigs of Rods to make it compile on GCC again: https://github.com/RigsOfRods/...
