Re: Toddler PC

You can always write a little program using Scratch that reacts to key presses. Like when your kids presses the "a" key the butterfly makes a 360 turn, "b" key makes some sound, etc. And maybe have tome characters chase the mouse pointer. Then put Scratch into full screen mode and let her discover w...

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 overheating

FWIW, I once had an sd card which actually overheated to the point of releasing smoke! Luckily the RPi I was using with said card still works (with another card of course).

Do what?

You mean God should not bless the rest of us? Thanks for that.

Don't forget, your Pi came from the real mother land :)

Official display blanking after update (fine after rebooting

I´m having a strange problem that has appeared the two times I´ve updated-upgraded my system. I´m using a RPi3 with the official display and a SmartiPi case. Everything is powered by an ADATA 10050 powerbank. I started by flashing the 2016-09-23-raspbian-jessie image, did some configuring of the sys...

In case you don´t know what is rpdom talkign about, he means using the terminal to issue that command. You can find the terminal using spotlight (upper right corner).

Re: SSH Connection refused

Oh, you´re on a Mac - forgot that part. I guess you can try to edit the filename and erase the extension after creating the file. As far as I remember you´ll have to right click the file, then get information, and then you should be able to edit the filename. Don´t know if it´ll work - I haven´t tou...

No, no. Like I told you, it should be a file named just ssh, with no extension - meaning ssh without the ".txt" part!

Anyway, glad you have it sorted out.

Are you sure the Pi is using the same IP? Usually it´s that way, but better be sure.

Re: SSH Connection refused

I guess you´ve used the latest image of Raspbian for your fresh install? If you check the lastest blog entry then you´ll find the answer. SSH has been disabled by default for security reasons. There are 2 ways to re-enable it: 1. If your Pi has a display and keyboard you can run: sudo raspi-config A...

Not really. I remember looking everywhere on the Internet trying to get my RPi play Netflix and Playon was the only thing that game me a solution - actually more like a workaround. I've seen some posts around here about some people having succes using Netflix on Raspbian but that is mire like experi...

Re: Netflix on raspberry 2/3

There's an application called Playon that can stream whatever you are watching on Netflix from you Pc to your RPi. I've done this using Openelec on the Raspberry. You can even control the whole system from your phone.

Hi. The following mirror has been unavailable for the last few days (at least since last thursday): Consorcio Ecuatoriano para el Desarrollo de Internet Avanzada - (http|ftp|rsync)://mirror.cedia.org.ec/raspbian/raspbian/ I guess you should update you mirror information at: http://raspbian.org/Raspb...

Re: Heat of my raspberry pi

What game were you running? I've had trouble running chromium and watching youtube videos in full screen - the RPi got hot and at about 75 Celsius it hanged and I had to unplug it. It happened a few times and I thought it had to do with overheating but then I tried running a simple but intensive tas...

Re: A Wireless Breadboard?

I'd say it depends on what you need in your breadboard. If you just need to switch some stuff on and off remotely then maybe using a RF transmitter on the Pi and the corresponding receiver on you breadboard could give you the wireless link you need.

Re: New Jessie has bugs?

It does. I've spent the last 4 hours working in my Rpi using chrome, reading posts, answering posts and looking for various info... Not a single crash, although I got a slowdown when I apparently had too many tabs open. I closed a few and everything was ok again.

Isn't there people who can't feel pain? On a certain level pain is just a tool to help us stay in one piece. The sensors in your hands tell you brain that something is wrong, then you react by taking your hand out of the fire. For people with problems in their "sensors" the alert doesn't exist. Ther...

Way to go David. Why would it not be free? The world has been swimming in discarded old PCs for decades now. You just have to find them. In the dumpster or by knowing who is throwing out what and asking first. Maybe in some parts of the world. Here, I'm sure, you wont find anyone throwing a 3, 4, 5...
