Re: Script running in IDLE not in Thonny

Your script might have been created usong IDLE3 but when you run it from the CLI (as you said you are) then the Python version used depends on what command you are issuing. AFAIK using 'python script.py' will call Python 2. For Python 3 the command would be 'python3 script.py'.

Recording Slow Motion video with Official Camera

Hi. Here´s a script to record slow motion video with the official camera v2. I saw a request for this on Twitter so I´m sharing here so anyone can benefit. I´ve added comments so you can adapt this to your own needs. For the script to work you need to install the MP4Box program, which can be done us...

Audio processing - Have I hit the limit?

I have this small script: import pyaudio import time import numpy as np from scipy.signal import butter, lfilter, lfilter_zi def design_filter(lowcut, highcut, fs, order=3): nyq = 0.5*fs low = lowcut/nyq high = highcut/nyq b,a = butter(order, [low,high], btype='band') return b,a def callback(in_data...

Nevermind, I found the answer - it was just a matter of getting the sample formats and numpy arrays right.

Audio processing with PyAudio - can´t change sample values

Hi. I´m having a hard time trying to do the most basic audio processing using Python with PyAudio. I´ve opened the stream correctly and in my callback function, when I just return the input array I can monitor incomign audio without problems: def callback(in_data, frame_count, time_info, status): re...

Re: RPI is not intended for serious projects because of its unreliability

I've got almost 30 RPi, from original b, b+, 2b and 3b, some working 24/7, some used once in a while, some used every day but turned on/off depending on the occasion... They all work fine.... In 5 years i've only got 1 card corrupted to being unusable, and even though I managed to short 5v to ground...

But then the system would rely on the car starting at an exact known position and heading a known direction. With the NFC tags you can havr the car start anywhere and even if the car doesn't know where it is at the beginning once it finds the first tag it can find on whuch road it is. Second tag (at...

Motion Eye OS works on the Pi with USB cameras. I don't know if you can use 2 on one pi but it's just a matter of trying.

@DougieLawson: Thanks for your code, but that won't get the serial for the display. @6by9: There is some code stamped on the back of the display.... I had to assemble 8 units and wanted to avoid the task of taking note of the serial number by hand and thought that maybe I could wait until booting th...

Get screen serial number from console

Hi. Is there any way to get the serial number for the official screen from the console?Just like when using cat /proc/cpuinfo for getting the serial for the RPi board, but fot the screen.

Thanks.

Twofing not working with latest Raspbian update [Solved]

Hi. Yesterday I downloaded twofing and an install script by Pimoroni ( https://github.com/pimoroni/raspberry-pi-two-finger-touch ) and it all worked ok but I had (unrelated) problems with chromium when playing youtube videos so I run an update/dist-upgrade on my system (This fixed the youtube proble...

Re: Problem running xvkbd 3.7

I solved the problem above and got 3.7 working on the latest raspbian. If anybody wants to know how, the problem was in the lmakefile file. There´s a sectionthat reads: #ifdef I18N D_I18N = -DUSE_I18N -DHAVE_SETLOCALE #endif Just delete the " -DHAVE_SETLOCALE" part, so it reads: #ifdef I18N D_I18N =...

Problem running xvkbd 3.7 [Solved]

Hi. I´ve been using xvkbd 3.3 (on screen keyboard) for a while on a RPi 3 with raspbian for some time - I installed it from the repositories using apt-get. Now I need version 3.7 since it has some option version 3.3 doesn´t have. I downloaded the sources and built per the instructions posted here: h...

Re: Hospitals no fun, not talking worse.

What are your limits rigbt now regarding physical abilities? I'm asking because I've seen lots of advice on the output part (the speech synthesizer) but not much regarding the input system, the interface to allow you to compose text as fast as possible. You say you have difficulties typing... Is tha...

Re: I2C - Small percentage of corrupted data

what could, I repeat could , be the problem is that the Pullups for I2C on the raspberry PI pull the I2C clock and data signal up to 3.3Volt, NOT to the more common 5.0 Volt. This means that any I2C device on that 3V3 level I2C bus MUST reliably accept a 3.3V signal as "high". Sometimes the I2C dev...

Re: I2C - Small percentage of corrupted data

I was thinking of encoding everything on the Trinket side to use only 7 bits of each byte to store the data, unless anyone else knows a better way. I still have to try a stronger pullup resistor - the stock ones are 1.8kOhm I think. Unless that´s strong enough. If that doesn´t work then I´ll use the...

I2C - Small percentage of corrupted data

Hi. I´m trying to have my Pi3 receive data from an Adafruit Trinket (3v version) using I2C. Basically the Trinket is counting form 0 to 1023. Everytime I send a message to it it adds 1 to the counter and stores the number in 2 registers. Then from the RPi I send 2 requests to read the value - 2 requ...

Re: Sensing power produced by windmill - waterwheel - solar

Hey, thanks to both of you, that INA219 looks interesting. I´ll investigate more about it. The only downside to it is that it works on DC, so I´d have to rectify and eliminate ripple.... more components, more chance for mistakes! But it might be worth the effort I guess. About the info I´ll be showi...

Sensing power produced by windmill - waterwheel - solar cel

Hi. A friend of mine is conducting some experiments in school and she asked me if it would be possible to use the Raspberry Pi to enhance the experience. She will have the students build windmills (and later this year maybe water wheels) and I told her that it would be interesting to have the RPi si...
