Re: Compute Module Test Board

Hey guys, I thought I would post an update to let you know that i am still working on the project :D but it has been a little slow over the last few days as i had a small car accident which took the fun out of last week. I have essentially started from scratch again power management wise as well as ...

Yeah I wasn't far away  but word to the wise, copy part for part the power management from the CMIO board! It will save a headache in future :P

Re: Compute Module Test Board

Ok guys, to give you all an update, i was able to do some testing over the weekend and well in terms of power management I will have to go back to the drawing board as the linear regulator for the 1v8 rail was fluctuating quite badly thus not able to sufficiently power the CM properly and wasn't abl...

Thanks for the support guys, it is much appreciated :D, as with prices and posting I will try and keep the prices reasonable and the postage might be expensive due to me living in Australia and distance to Europe.

Re: Compute Module Test Board

Lovely pictures, very professional. I was looking back to your first post in this thread. .........I have only covered the Bare essentials to get the CM up and running and responding via USB and Ethernet. once I get feedback that this will work, then go further ........ This is one of many steps to...

Hey Guys, I thought I would give an update, the Fab house have shipped my Test PCB's fully assembled, should hopefully get them next week sometime, thought I would share the pics they sent me http://pmfg.me/rpi/CM_Test_Board_1.x/P40814-162515.jpg (Topside) http://pmfg.me/rpi/CM_Test_Board_1.x/P40814...

Re: Compute module won't boot

assuming that you only have 3v3 and 1v8 lines connected, you will need to delay the 1v8 lines on the CM in order for it to boot.

Re: Compute module boot issue

Hi Briarios, Thanks for your feedback. Do you mean GPIO28/29 and GPIO44/45 ? According to the datasheet there's no internal pull U/D on these GPIO that's the reason we find pull-down resistors on the CMIO schematic. For info these pull down resistors are populated in our design. Greg ahh yes those ...

Re: Compute module boot issue

I think there are 4 GPIO's that you can't really use during boot up, can't think of which ones they are atm should be in the CMIO schematic.

hi, I also design with Eagle. Would it be possible to share the .sch and the .brd files? It would be a great start to desing my own compute modules. Hello Kridri, once i can confirm that the design i have created works and works well, I will be releasing the eagle cad files, probably via github or ...

Re: Compute Module Test Board

Hello again guys, I thought I would give you an update on the test board. I have sent the necessary files to the Fab house in China to get the prototypes done. it should take about 2-3 weeks from now till i receive the end product in my hands. while this is now in the hands of the PCB fab house. I t...

Re: Compute Module Test Board

With my Board, I needed about 1.4mm trace width. A 1.4mm trace is a huge trace. from what I see with your Calculations on that is it looks like you're making a 2 layer board? if so, I can see why you would need quite big traces. I am using a 4 layer board and as you can see from the calculations th...

Re: Compute Module Test Board

Hello, have you considered using the LAN9514 chip? is it possible to use with the compute module? Yes I have considered using the LAN9514 chip, but at this stage i didn't want the hassle of finding space for 2 extra USB ports on the board at this stage, and yes it is possible to use with the comput...

Re: Problem with new product Compute Module

How about EMMC_DISABLE_N?
Beat me to it :P , was going to say that, but the next thing is how have you connected GPIO47? I know that you want to keep your schematic secret but are you able to display the schematic on how you have done the EMMC_DISABLE_N section?

Re: Compute Module Test Board

USB2 spec calls for 5v +/- 0.25v officially so technically you are still within the specifications.
Oh yes the hardest part about this that i had to learn on the fly was getting the USB and Ethernet to meet specifications once that was done, everything else was easy.

Re: Compute Module Test Board

Did you keep the resistance of the USB connection in mind? [John Cleese voice] ahh yes, it would seem that i have indeed missed it... but i checked the traces and they are rated for about 1.6 amps across the trace, i also checked the resistance and the first usb socket has a voltage drop to roughly...

Re: Compute Module Test Board

I would put the crystal closer to the LAN9512, usually it's a requirement, to put it as close as possible. The upper usb connector could be safely moved upwards. Are you going to publish the eagle files for this project? Thanks for pointing that out :) i think i'll do that in the next revision same...
