Re: Watchdog rebooting w/o lock-up

I configured according to http://binerry.de/post/28263824530/raspberry-pi-watchdog-timer . Had to change the nowayout=1 parameter to get the watchdog working in the first place. Heartbeat parameter was (and is) 15 seconds. I now ditched the watchdog package and speak to /dev/watchdog directly from m...

Good non-usb Power Supply for Pi

Looking for a good non-USB power supply for your Pi?

Check out http://www.velleman.eu/products/view/?id=376748.

Got mine today. Works very well and provides plenty of power (5A) for embedded projects.

Watchdog rebooting w/o lock-up

I configured the hardware watchdog and am using watchdog package.

However since, the Pi spontaneously reboots once every 1..3 hours - even if there's no reason.

Anyone else seen this happening?

Re: Colocation

I'd be interested in experimenting with the Pi for cheap webhosting. I envision a "dedicated server" web hosting package: System on the local SD card, data on a SAN through iSCSI. Probably LAMP enabled, or asp.net/mono (I hear mono on the Pi does suck a bit, though). As of fitting 20 in a 1U rack ca...

Re: SD Card Backup and Custom Image...

Windows users might like HDDGURU's free 'HDD Raw Copy Tool' to fully clone and/or image their SD Cards. Most other Windows utilities work with partitions and can't see anything non-Windows, while this one works on the device layer and does not care about partitions nor filesystems. You need to take ...

Why not use a DHCP server on the maintenance laptop? You could try http://www.dhcpserver.de/dhcpsrv.htm

Re: My Network Sniffer

Most smart/managed switches (such as this one: http://www.amazon.com/NETGEAR-ProSafe-Gigabit-Ethernet-Desktop/dp/B0000BVYT3 ) offer a feature called 'port mirroring'. This sets a certain port on the switch to 'mirror' the traffic between two or more different ports on that switch. You'd connect your...

Headerless Pi

My wish is simple: I'd like to have a Mod B version that comes with the headers - but unsoldered.

Re: Pi Lock-up

Unfortunately, that was too quick.

Crashes still happen, even though less frequently. I'm now trying with a brand new 1A usb adaptor. I wonder though, the lockups always occur in bcm2708_spi_interrupt. Maybe there's some problem with the SPI implementation of the Pi?

Re: SNMP Monitoring Box

Hmm that was too quick! The Pi still crashes on the Temper1, even with the Relavak code - though much less frequently. It always seems to hang in bcm2708_spi_interrupt. A few questions arise: * Might there be a problem with the SPI implementation? * As I'm using a separate thread to read the temp - ...

Re: SNMP Monitoring Box

UPDATE: The perl code takes too long to execute, occasionally crashes the Pi and returns false readings every now and then. Using temper-1.0 code from Relavak Labs (http://relavak.wordpress.com/2009/10/17/temper-temperature-sensor-linux-driver/) works MUCH better. See http://www.raspberrypi.or...

Re: Pi Lock-up

Instead of using Perl ( http://search.cpan.org/~msulland/Device-USB-PCSensor-HidTEMPer-0.04/lib/Device/USB/PCSensor/HidTEMPer/TEMPer/Internal.pm ), I gave temper-1.0.tgz from Revalak Labs ( http://relavak.wordpress.com/2009/10/17/temper-temperature-sensor-linux-driver/ ) a try. Also, the perl code t...

Re: Pi Lock-up

I have 4,9V across TP1-TP2. Isolated the cause to be the USB thermometer, as the Pi doesn't crash without it attached. Currently using Perl to read temperature from the sensor, so it's not yet clear if it's a software problem (which I suspect). Going to try with another method of reading from the de...

Re: Pi Lock-up

It just happened again. Nothing in /var/log/syslog, though. From the error message on the console, it seems like it's related to the SPI interface/driver.

Maybe relevant: I connected a HID device (PCsensor Temper) via USB. Crash seems to happen right after reading temperature from the HID device.

Pi Lock-up

I have a brand new Pi (Rev 2, Mod B) board with PiFace addon connected. Power supply is 5V/1A. Problem: - Pi completely locks up after some time (overnight). Symptoms: - SSH session gets disconnected (connection reset) - Pi doesn't respond to pings anymore - PWR led remains on (red) - LNK, FDX and 1...

SNMP Monitoring Box

I'm using the Pi -together with the PiFace Digital- to monitor the environment at various co-location sites for several parameters, and generate SNMP traps accordingly: - DIESEL generator engaged - DIESEL generator fault - MAINS power lost - A/C unit 1 fault - A/C unit 2 fault - Temperature alert To...

Re: Keyboard repeating characters

I also got the repeating characters problem today, after a while of usage. Both with a Logitech iTouch Keyboard, and with a DELL SK-8125.

The problem went away when I disconnected the mouse (HP M-UV96).
