Re: Pi Zero W, Relays and US Coffee Maker

Connection diagram

GPIO High -> 5v-Key Off (note that in the off state there will still be the bias current of about 0.5mA flowing from +5V to Key. From your measurements that shouldn't trigger it on)
GPIO Low -> 5v-Key On

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

If that looks OK then it might be a particular command within the macro that is causing a problem. All commands within the macro are executed under the ownership of www-data and if www-data doesn't have the rights to do a particular command then it will fail and the macro terminates. Start off by c...

Re: RPi Cam Web Interface

I installed the interface and it is working great, however I did not think about another service I was running that already uses port 80 when I set up the camera. I have the lights in my house controlled via smartphone through a web interface and it does not work while the camera is being used on p...

Re: Pi Zero W, Relays and US Coffee Maker

OK Remember that anything on the hot side of the isolator is hazardous and should not be accessible in normal use. Best way to achieve this is to have all the electronics inside the coffee maker. If you can't do this and plan to have the controoler outside then the next best way is to have the opto ...

Re: Pi Zero W, Relays and US Coffee Maker

Looking at the schematic inside the Sparkfun isolator the following MIGHT work. Connect +5V on coffee unit to OUT1 on isolator Connect KEY to HV GND on isolator Connect Pi 0V to input GND on isolator Connect GPIO to input IN1 on isolator Still put protection diode between KEY and GND on coffee maker...

Re: Pi Zero W, Relays and US Coffee Maker

Grr. Already ordered it. Any chance I could use this or, is it out of the question? I really wanted to stay away from a breadboard. It's very ugly and unsafe because this is placed right next to the stove and that means water/grease could get on it. A breadboard also wouldn't ever pass the WAF and ...

Re: Pi Zero W, Relays and US Coffee Maker

Ok Here is my suggestion. Forget the sparkfun break out. I think it is going to be more trouble than it is worth as it inverts the signal and the connections aren't really right for this. Schematic uses simple opto isolator (almost any type will do). GPIO drives input emitter through 470R to set cur...

I read the above and have tried what I can find here to make it work, but the button I setup does not work. I can use the command line to execute the bash script but I cannot get the button to do it. I love some ides on how to make it work. I assume you are trying to use the user defined buttons an...

Re: Pi Zero W, Relays and US Coffee Maker

Ok. I took a multimeter to several places. The voltages didn't change but, the amperage changed quite a bit. On placing my multimeter to key and ground, it turned the coffee maker on without touching the switch around 10mA. Shorter times wouldn't do it. It seemed to build amps the longer I held it ...

Re: Pi Zero W, Relays and US Coffee Maker

How you power your electronics is going to be the critical piece here. Although there is 5V supply on the board, I doubt whether this will have sufficient extra capacity for your electronics. It looks to me like there is a simple non-isolated power circuit on that board where the mains voltage is dr...

The labels on the PCB are 5v, LED, Key. The power switch has a blue LED light when it's on See this pic: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009OQTCPA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_xHQ6Ab3ANX20Z EDIT: I just checked continuity with it off and unplugged. Key and 5V are shorted when the button is pressed. I'll check t...

This is a really dumb question that probably has been asked and answered elsewhere but I don't know the right keywords to find it. I am trying to load RPi-Cam to an SD card set up with q4os which is based on raspbian but uses a different desktop. Raspbian comes pre-installed with "git" but q4os doe...

Hello all, I’v got a question regarding the motion detection settings of the RPi Cam Web Interface. I've searched the main post about the RPi Cam Web Interface for information about my question but was not able to find any detailed enough answer to my specific problem. I’m running a R-Pi 3 B with t...

Using ffmpeg instead of gkstreamer Hi I'm using a pi 3 running existing apps on raspberian stretch and installed RPi Cam on that. There is a button on the web interface labelled stop camera. If this is activated the software disconnects from the camera but is still running. The button toggles to start camera. However, the software did cras...

Hello, first of all: the RPi Cam Web Interface is an excellent program. It generally works great and it makes fun to use! Now to my problem: I use the camera as a surveillance camera in combination with two IR-LED-Lamps for night vision (this one: https://www.amazon.com/Quimat-Raspberry-Vision-Came...
