Re: Linking a Pi to the Physical world

Rather than all these guys who want to act as resellers for the Raspi, wouldn't it be more useful if, when individuals have developed software for commercial expansion boards, the resellers could buy those boards in bulk and sell them on to Raspi users?

Re: Ebay listings

<t>I think this thread is going off topic...<br/> <br/> Seriously, I have all the boards on 'My Ebay' (no, I'm not bidding) and follow the scores with interest (I don't have a life).  It's great for the project, both in terms of the money and the publicity.<br/> <br/> Given that the forum now has 60...

Re: RISC OS on Raspberry Pi

<t>After my earlier post about drivers I looked further at the ROOL site and it appears that RiscOS 5, which they provide, contains a number of native USB drivers for common uses, and there are some others available as add-ons, so using RiscOS should be a very vaible option out of the box.  I use Ri...

Re: Introduce yourself!

<t>Chris from Sheffield, UK.  I retired early this year and have some time on my hands.  I started with a Commodore PET 64 at work.  Built a kit car at the same time.  I wrote stats programs in BASIC - took an hour to run each pass, after the data was input.  Then moved onto an Electron (BBC Jnr) in...

Re: VGA

If you haven't already got one, buying a UK TV licence is still going to be cheaper than getting legal advice (don't feed the parasites) and you can watch iPlayer live if you want to.

Re: Which language would you choose to teach programming on the RPi?

BBC BASIC under RiscOS.  Fast, compact, (fairly) structured (for a non-complex language), well-tested and easy to understand.

Re: No OS news?

<t>It seems as if the decision has been made (and I support this) that the 'standard' distro will be Debian.<br/> <br/> This is crucial for education and beginners as it provides a reference point for problem solving.<br/> <br/> The amazing thing about Raspi is that you can mess about with your OS o...

Re: RISC OS on Raspberry Pi

<t>ROOL are now advertising the 'native' RiscOS-onna-stick' for Raspi. This looks interesting, but does anyone know how to write drivers for USB devices under RiscOS?  I'm thinking of things like mass storage, optical drives, wireless mouse/keyboard etc. - nothing too esoteric at this stage, just en...

Re: How come there are so many Raspberry Pi haters?

<t>Another (almost) geriatric ex-Electron/BBC/RiscPC user.  I don't know how I've missed hearing about he RPi until Xmas Eve on the BBC site, but I'm very excited.  The BBCs are long gone and the RPC festers i the loft.  It was too big to keep for the limited amount I used it, and others in the hous...
