Re: OpenVPN Server stopped working

What are the outputs of:

uname -a

find /lib/modules/ -name tun.ko

find /lib/modules/`uname -r` -name tun.ko -exec file {} \;

?

Re: aufs root filesystem

Hi,

The initramfs needs linking into the kernel at kernel compile time.
So you have something like:
CONFIG_INITRAMFS_SOURCE="i-f2fs.cpio"
Set in .config

Place the cpio archive at the root of your kernel build tree.

Re: [Tutorial] Using the RasPi as a WiFi hostspot (8 Nov 12)

I've been running with excellent stability using a TP-Link TL-WN822N for a long time now. This uses the ath9k_htc driver and firmware. This means no more than 8 stations at anyone point in time, which in some use cases is a problem for me. (At least the firmware, and driver and both OS, but the plat...

Assuming you don't need to talk to the dongle with strange AT commands for diagnostic reasons just run "dhclient eth1" and you will be in business.

f2fs tools added fsck a couple of weeks ago, but it doesn't seem very reliable (at least on arm) for me, unless I've mis-built it.

Anyone else tried yet?

Re: SD corruption on power outages

I've been having this issue too... usually it's not an issue because I shut down my Pis or I put them on a battery backup, but recently I connected two of them to two LCD displays and the displays are often powered down by accident. I was thinking that making the rootfs read-only and then having a ...

Re: Can't get Huawei E3131 setup properly

Hi, I've spent a lot of time getting a an E3231 to work reliably. It seems to be _very_ similar. I've found 3 unique identifiers for it: 12d1: 1f01 - CD-ROM 12d1:14db - HiLink Modem mode 12d1:1442 - serial port mode (but you can't use pppd against it; however you can issue AT commands in this mode)....

Re: Bluetooth Freeze Issue

Hi, Bluetooth in particular (and USB in general) had been usable, although quirky, for me for a long time. However the fiq_split patches to the kernel have solved all my USB problems at the moment :) See http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=39175&start=125 A simple rpi-update shoul...

Hi,

You need to disable CONFIG_BCM_VC_CMA

(This is also true at 3.10.X)

AFAIK it is no great loss

Just to complete the story, I'm now at 3.10.1 with all the latest FIQ patches (apart from the tracing one) applied, and it's looking very sold (unlike fsck.f2fs :( ). Just for reference for those that struggle to build https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/151327099/aufs-3.10.1.tar.bz2 Contains the ke...

Hi Gordon,

I'm having to maintain a local tree for aufs support.

Are all the fixes commited to https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/commits/rpi-3.10.y ?

Thanks,

Caveat: I didn't write this code, I found it with google, but have long since lost the source/attribution: #include <stdio.h> #include <fcntl.h> #include <errno.h> #include <sys/ioctl.h> #include <linux/usbdevice_fs.h> void main(int argc, char **argv) { const char *filename; int fd; filename = argv[...

Re: aufs root filesystem

Glad it worked. I'm not sure if I have mentioned earlier, but there are challenges unmounting cleanly at reboot time with aufs if you don't use tmpfs as your rw branch. In the end I've sacrificed xino which allows me to unmount cleanly, and also substantially reduces the writes to the SD card rw par...

Re: Remote pi using cellular signal

Most USB dongles work with enough banging of head against wall. Sakis3g is quite a useful tool here (although the main repository is a bit up and down over the last few months). Some of the newer dongles also pretend to be ethernet interfaces, and thus can just started with dhclient on the appropria...

Hi, I'm staying at 3.8 for the moment for a variety of reasons. Anyway, start with the standard popcorn 3.8 kernel tree. BUILDROOT=/usr/src/linux # It's possible you have something more modern than this. cd $BUILDROOT git clone git://aufs.git.sourceforge.net/gitroot/aufs/aufs3-standalone.git cd aufs...

Re: wireless WLAN bridge

Hi, I looked into how to do this, and there are some challenges in bridging over Wireless because of the differences at layer 2. If you can get full 4 addr support setup, then you are in with half a chance, but even then there are likely to be problems. Happily there is a solution that "just works"....

If memory serves me correctly the bold addition is also needed to let fsck work.
