Re: RaspBerry Pi(e) Model C (imaginations & wants)

I hate wintel , (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wintel) there I said it.... Intel = x86 that means its based on the fugliest most inefficient instruction set know to man, thus it will always need more transistors, and thus more cost & power than any clean RISC instruction set based system. ...

Re: Guide to installing WordPress

I have a problem. When I try to load. installation page I get: "Error Establishing database connection". I think I've done wrong. anything with mysql. What can I do about it? @jrap is right. something is not set correctly yet. Pay careful attention to spacing and punctuation. It has to be exact. Es...

Re: I replaced the USB connector on my PI.

I left the power connector to keep open the option of a regular power source. That board has been running back-powered for over a year, and was my web server until lately. This is an earlier picture of it being hardwired before I switched to header pins http://rich1.dyndns.tv/wordpress/wp-content/up...

Re: I replaced the USB connector on my PI.

The pins are brass so they bend easily. I used side cutters to cut away the USB connectors. I then used a de-soldering bulb to clean out the holes after removing the old pins and supports. I splayed the pins laterally to fit them into the boards holes. The plastic base that holds the pins makes it e...

Re: I replaced the USB connector on my PI.

I used 1/10th inch by 1/10th inch header pins. I had to splay the pins out to get them into the board, as the holes are not 1/10th inch centers. I then bent the pins back straight. I then use 1/10th inch connectors. So I have two dongles, one for each USB port. You can use an 8 pin connector or two ...

Re: wordpress setup

The usual way to enter your site is IP/wordpress in a browser.
Example: 192.168.1.100/wordpress
Alternately: 192.168.1.100/wp-admin.

So if I use a powered usb hub and I connect all like in figure I shouldn't have any problem, right? https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2896771/scheme2.png I have used your first post version and had no problems, BUT, this version is the safest bet. Your first drawing is having two different power ...

Re: Guide to installing WordPress

WordPress states they have a "famous 5 minute install", So why does it take me more than an hour?    Of course that 5 minute install is for Windows, or a provider site, not Linux. I think some one has a script for the main parts but I think you still have to do the editing by h...

Re: Guide to installing WordPress

In the early 2000s I was a project director for a national U.S. professional services firm, Ajilon. I was called "the cleaner" by my colleagues (evidently from Pulp Fiction) because I would be given a project which was on the rocks, clean house, get the project back on track and our client cooled d...

Re: Guide to installing WordPress

I have not tried the new Raspbian yet (1/7/14). But it should cut the install time down. I ended up with a good install so I am redoing my web site. This works after you have everything installed. when you try to delete the plugins or add a theme, WordPress will ask you for host name user and pass, ...

Re: Guide to installing WordPress

I ran the tutorial through a line by line install found a couple of mistakes and found where a couple of edits may make it easier for people to be successful. This was with 201-9-25 Raspbian full install. The newer 2014-1-7 would be faster as it needs less time to update. PNY 8GB class 4 2013-09-25-...

Re: Guide to installing WordPress

It took me 3 installs to get it working the first time. Now I can install it and have it work almost every time. That "Almost" is the most irritating thing about it! Most of the time it is a ownership issue. Linux has its problems. My problem is its permissions setup. Permissions and ownership! I ha...

Re: Guide to installing WordPress

The instructions should have left you with your WordPress at the following. /var/www/wordpress/wordpress. So the install puts it in a sub directory already. That is where all of mine have ended up. .htaccess needs to be in the working directory, but I also have it in /var/www. That makes it availabl...

Re: Pellet stove management

My auger activates for varying lengths of time. It is a top feed system. Low = every 8 seconds (equals about 1.25 lbs. per hour) Medium = every 6 seconds High = every 4 seconds Auger speed does not change, only the timing. It uses a geared, brushed motor. A transformer converts 120V to 12V (13.4V) T...

Re: Guide to installing WordPress

That is a real standard problem. Something is just a bit off. Usually a typo. If you use puTTY or other SSH you can copy and paste the lines from the tutorial then edit them for your settings. Sometimes even the pasting does not work right. Take a break then go over your prior work with the console ...

It would be easier to look for the "level" of pellets. A series of micro switches from top to bottom of the hopper. The normal controls for a pellet stove is through high and low temp limit switches. http://a1stoves.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=68&gclid=CMDflta28rsCFZSIfgodhmUAwA...

Copyright laws are about money. If you download a song the person with that copyright should be paid. But many songs are no longer owned by their original "producers". The industry is designed to take a musicians rights away. The main people that are being prosecuted are those that sell the "pirated...

Re: Guide to installing WordPress

The original command works just fine for me.

Code: Select all

sudo cp -r ~/wordpress/* /var/www/wordpress
You had to drop the slash and replace it with a period.

Code: Select all

sudo cp -r ~/wordpress.* /var/www/wordpress
Well glad you got it worked out. Hope you can get WordPress installed now.

Re: Raspberry PI ARM Clone

I have to agree with Jamesh on the price point issues. The Raspberry Pi at $35 has sold 2.3 million boards, the BeagleBone Black at $45 has only sold around 100,000 boards. The BBB when it reaches the same length of sales as the RasPi has will be lucky to have sold 500,000 boards. Taking into accoun...
