testparm

Testparm to list the SAMBA configuration seem not to be implemented here, and Synaptic can't find it either.

Anyone know of tools to manage or interrogate SAMBA?

Thanks

Re: Can't get rc.local to run vncserver at boot

In Debian and Debian-based distros, you can set most services to start on boot with the command: sudo update-rc.d servicename enable You could try that with your VNC server, I haven't tested but I'm guessing it'll work. I'm afraid I get error: "cannot find a LSB script for vncserver" If sudo update...

From Raspberry Pi User Guide: Eben Upton and Gareth Halfacree, it describes the Preference Tool 'Desktop Session Settings - A tool for changing how the system works when the user is logged in, including what programmes are automatically loaded and which window manager ...... is used' When the tool i...

Re: Printer installation - should it be this difficult

Thanks, Jojopi, that's most helpful.
Thanks for clarifying the format and use of the URI.
I'll try those suggestions especially nmap.

Debugging

Could anyone please advise where I might find inforation on how to configure the debugger in order that trigger points can be inserted in specific points in the code to switch on or off the debugger and trace paths and variables. Nothing fancy, just the usual debugging techniques

Thanks

Re: Printer installation - should it be this difficult

I suspect printers didn't enter into the thinking to any extent when they put the Pi distros together. If you use a modern disto on a PC (Ubuntu is a good example) printers are usually a lot less painful than Windows. In the most part, you plug the printer in, the OS finds it and it prints straight...

Printer installation - should it be this difficult

I'm afraid that my patience is being stretched. I've had this thing for a few weeks now, and have been using the time to refresh my stale knowledge of UNIX. The first thing was to ensure that the image was up to date, and used apt-get and so on. However, despite having two Linux reference books, tog...

Canon Pixma MX350

Has anyone managed to install the Canon drivers for this? I must admit that I'm struggling to remember my UNIX, and probably continue to struggle until my pocket reference guide comes. I've got CUSP working, and the LPconfig, but neither will pick up the MX350 over the wired net. Also managed to dow...

All, I'm using Xarchiver 0.5.2SVN-r29673 to unpack a TAR file from the Canon Printer driver site. It fails, reporting can't open file, archive format is not recognized. Re: Network printer - how to?

Timm et al, I've followed all of this, but neither is the printer option appearing in the menu list, nor is the command found if run from the terminal. Do I need to be in a particular directory to install successfully and do I need any particular user priviledges to run cusp and config? If I've inst...
